May 18th, 2023 11:03 AM #21test-drive them, po, and see which you prefer to drive.
i have a 2003 altis with over 120K km on the odometer, that drives very well despite its age. only ordinary wear-and-tear maintenance.
my one gripe, is the driver's position. medyo cramped.
colleagues with a honda city, say it's a good car.
as in everything pre-owned, "caveat emptor".
if you do not know how to size up a used car, have someone knowledgeable in the art, go along with you, or hire a mekaniko and bring him with you.
so, what is the single most fatal factor to fear, when buying a used car?
"yung carnapped."
kasi, everything else can be fixed.
good luck, po.
btw,
don't always fall for the line, "heto lang problem niya,... but that can be easily fixed."
my issue with that, is "if it can be easily fixed, why don't you fix it and then demand a higher price for the car?"
but then, this is something only those who have such things fixed on their cars, will appreciate and judge.

May 18th, 2023 11:30 AM #23in my series of one generic altis,
ours never had a dashboard issue.
of the several altii in the workplace, none had, either.
i am still wondering, why this altis and why not that altis...
i have this feeling, toyota knows the answer, but chose not divulge it to the public...Last edited by dr. d; May 18th, 2023 at 11:37 AM.

May 18th, 2023 11:49 AM #25well, i am confused.
googling,
some say as early as 2003, others say 2007-2009, others say 2011...
one tsikoter here reported that he replaced/repaired his corolla dashboard,
but i do not remember the year model or the reason for it.
at any rate,
if the defective dashboard had since been fixed, and this particular dashboard issue is easy to evaluate naman,
i suppose ok na yung dashboard question.
the rest of the car na lang ang dapat siyasatin.
a word,
"no brand nor model of car is immune from poor maintenance by the owner."Last edited by dr. d; May 18th, 2023 at 12:03 PM.

May 18th, 2023 12:01 PM #26For 450K it can get you the 11th generation Altis na (2014~ ata?) without the dashboard issue.
It may be a bit boring for some but they are just so reliable

May 18th, 2023 02:45 PM #28Mahal yun for a 2006 model camry XV40 kahit Q(V6) model pa siya.
at 450k you should be able to get a later facelifted model camry. mga 2010 model and up na G or V model.
That is if you value comfort and don't care to much with gas consumption.
Alternatively you can get a first gen Fortuner around that price. medyo mataas lang cguro mileage but bigger size, diesel engine (cheaper realtively) or Gas engined (gas guzzler), thou matagtag ang suspension but overall very reliable.

May 18th, 2023 09:45 PM #29or a gen1 innova diesel. even the basic J is nice to drive.
it is rumored that they borrowed some aspects of the then-camry's interior and placed it in this innova.
the front row is not too tagtag. but the second and third rows are something to write home about.
a very reliable car in all its aspects, even with well over a hundred thousand km on the odometer.Last edited by dr. d; May 18th, 2023 at 09:47 PM.
