Nabasa ko sa autogeek online Griots Garage yung mas malakas followed by portercable then megs. Para sakin kung sa pads 2 Orange for defect removal, 2 white for polishing and 2 black for wax/sealant application.
Yung 5.5 inch pad kit ng autogeek.

same here sir!!! wew sumakit kamay at braso sa application ng swirlx. Though may natira parin nga konting scratches at watermarks. Do you think sir nasa application lang talaga pagkukulang? Or do we need a more aggresive liquid? inaalala ko rin kasi clear coat, baka masyadong numipis

Wait, please do enlighten me on this. I've read on several online posts that using detergent soap can leave minute particles on the fibers that can cause paint marring later on. So right now, I'm using diluted liquid soap and warm water to clean my towels. So, would this degreaser + perla combination produce better results?

July 9th, 2010 11:46 PM #5505To the two doctors who bought the OCW, OCW's doesn't really bead as much as compared to collinite's it actually sheets water more than it beads, but repellancy against water isn't its main forte although its sheeting is already sufficient to remove a majority of water after a wash, its number one feature is the protection it offers with the ease of a spray wax meaning it can provide a tough layer against water marks, tree saps and bird droppings, some sites even consider it as a sealant, anyways its second forte is the longevity of the shine compared to most OTC waxes that again comes with the convenience of the spray, i find that it actually lasts longer than TW PUG, Step 3 and Gold Class pastes when it comes to longevity of shine, so its more of a summer wax and a wax booster, for really round and tight water beading you really reach for the collinites

July 10th, 2010 12:24 AM #5507In most ways i agree with JM he's right, but my take would depend on the machine. if you're talking about the rotary when my suggestion is that you get the 5 inch backing plate like what JM get for me and my BF and then use the 5.5 inch pad for correction purposes, you see using the 8 inch pads are good if you're working the polish and spreading and working glazes and waxes since they don't require that much pressure, using a polishing doesn't require much pressure and no pressure in applying glazes and sealants, however when it comes to cutting pads you tend to need pressure and this is where i find the 5.5 inch does a better job since you can angle it to contour the curves better than the larger pads and you can concentrate the pressure on the defect area making your passes more effective in reducing defects, of course it requires more passes to do one hood but i find it more effective when working with smaller pads and that bonus is that you don't dry buff too quickly

July 10th, 2010 12:28 AM #5508Actually we have tried the griots 5 DA polisher, and its only with their version two did they incorporate enough power to do the corrections better than PC, but the draw back that we noticed was that the Griots wiggle and vigrate more than the PC, we think its not that balanced as compared to the Griots, then again maybe its because we used a different counterweight for a different backing plate, see we used the counterweight for the 4 inch pads with a 5 inch backing plate.

July 10th, 2010 12:32 AM #5509You will know if the product is sufficient if you can remove the swirls on one small area, so try doing a test spot, and if you can get the desired results then the product is enough, its just that some people hand polish and get excellent results from the start and poor results in the end caused by muscle fatigue and tiring, its normal for this to happen actually even for me thats why i usually recommend doing it a few panels per week, not do the whole car in one day, its no fun if you tire yourself too much at the end of the day, detailing should be fun hehe, but if on one small test area you still don't get the desired results then maybe its time for a second application or a more aggressive polish
