April 11th, 2018 08:14 AM #132The Henry Wang story sounds really exaggerated. Looks like a buttthurt passenger not getting what he wanted. There's always two sides of the coin though. Interested to hear the side of PAL as well as the passengers who witnessed the incident.

April 11th, 2018 10:05 AM #133the complainant's side, the couple's side, and pal's side.
that call to pal should have cleared up the issue.
i wonder what happened... was the content of the call made conveniently nebulous? in my business, if the call was difficult to interpret, we would have made a second call... and a third call... until the message becomes clear.Last edited by dr. d; April 11th, 2018 at 10:08 AM.

April 11th, 2018 10:12 AM #134The crux of it is the boarding pass where the seat number is printed.
If it says 31C and he was found on that seat, why remove him? And why ask if he paid for that seat? You obviously wouldn't be issued a boarding pass (on business class at that!) if you did not pay for it.

1. He’s originally booked in business class, unless the business class seats were full, he should have been accommodated in business class.
2. There are 2 flights to SFO on Mondays (April 9 is on a Monday). The next flight, PR104 leaves 1hr after PR114. If PR114’s biz class was fully booked, he could have asked to be moved to PR104. He claimed he has slipped disc, and seating in economy for 13hrs is torture for him.
3. He claimed he’s been regularly flying business class with PR, which should have given him elite status already in Mabuhay Miles. If you’re elite, you will be given priority in your seat selection. They can even bump off non-elite passengers by offering cash compensations, or hotel, or free upgrades on their next flight.
4. If his claim that he is a frequent flyer is true, then he should have known the above points by heart and this incident shouldn’t have happened.Signature

If his story is true, this is what I think happened, the couple paid for the seats (31 A-C) in their tickets, it s a choice seat , price is higher than ordinary economy seat.
Here comes Mr. Wang, wanted to board a flight he is not originally booked. Talk to PAL manager, manager talk to check-in girl, girl said only economy seats available, Wang look to manager explained his slipped disc, manager ask check-in girl give him good seat. Girl want to impress boss, give Mr Wang economy seat with big leg room. Then girl moved the couple from row 31 to row 41, Mr Wang paid $2 rebooking, put 500 pesos to manager pocket, both walk out happy. Then when boarding comes, couple who paid for choice seat complain, airplane crew check manifest, found couple should be in 31C, crew ask Mr. Wang "did you pay for that seat", Mr Wang said "no" but I paid manager
Its true, Mabuhay Miles member have priority in seat selection, if they pay for it. Sometimes your fare class dictates if you are entitled to the benefits of being a Mabuhay Miles member.
Maybe the couple is also a Mabuhay Miles member, so its now the matter of who paid the right fare.
And also I noticed a lot of inconsistencies in Mr, Wang boarding pass, "Priority Access Boarding" word is missing, his Mabuhay Miles number is in the wrong place. His class status MM (Million Milers) doesn't have the prefixed LNG (lounge). Maybe check-in girl was sleepy.

Ganda na ng upgraded planes ng PAL going to osaka. Monitors are large and movie selection is wide na rin. Seats are noticeably bigger.
The seating in the old planes were laughable kasi magkadikit ang shoulders ng katabi mo.
Food is sumptuous also.
