October 1st, 2024 04:21 PM #751yes, they have ground-level overflow parking. sinabi naman sakin, and i agreed, naman. i did not think at that time, that the floods would be a'comin.
malas lang, kung may ondoy or habagat. as is the rest of NCR.
but i wonder, are their ground-level parkings prone to flood? ang sabi sakin, sa tabi-tabi lang nang park n fly bldg...

The justification given for the steep increase in the parking rates does not make any sense.

October 3rd, 2024 09:20 AM #753then give the "authorized" park-ers, i.e., returning pasahero, some single-use scan-able document. "if you are parked at the parking lot, kindly proceed to the discount table, for your discount papers."
for regular company-parking-authorized organic personnel, bigyan nang scan-able ID.
in my opinion,
whoever was in charge of the planning, flubbed it.
hindi nag-isip. probably dahil baguhan siya. kulang pa karanasan.
heh heh.

^I'm not a regular user of NAIA's parking...
pero would you rather pay more for parking na available? O pay cheap pero palagi naman puno?
sometimes nakaka-inis yung naka-pasok ka na sa parking lot ng mall only to find out na ang daming naghahanap ng parking and wala ka nang chance lumabas just to use the mall's valet parking!
just like NAIA, ilang beses na akong may colleague na napilitan iwan yung car nya sa office kasi puno yung airport parking.
so I guess we can look at it 2 ways. if its too expensive, then its not for us.

October 3rd, 2024 10:45 AM #756ganyan kami dati sa restoran.
"dun tayo sa xxx. mahal doon, kaya marami bakante sa parking."
pues!
... not anymore!
but there must be a better way, than to let price dictate privilege.
i mean, not all karapat-dapats have lotsa money...
so maybe, expensive parking is a way of encouraging you to leave your car and your company of well-wishers at home, and take more public conveyance.
if our taxi service here were as pleasurable as elsewhere nearby,
i'd probably leave the car at home, too. i might even sell one or two of them.Last edited by dr. d; October 3rd, 2024 at 10:51 AM.

hahaha. just sharing. 20 years ago, we would all use 1 van to have a family dinner...
fast forward to 2024 - we need at least 6 parking slots (weekday dinner) -> kaya mall na lang kami if may family events
I remember seeing this article na our airports were properly designed to be world class - sadly, it was NOT designed for the Filipino.
We have this hatid-sundo culture which our airports cannot handle.
So if ihahatid ka ng family member to the airport, does your relative park the car and join you until before you enter the immigration gates?

October 3rd, 2024 11:29 AM #758Just last Saturday, I had to pick up my old folks. NAIA T3 was full, yet they were still letting cars in (with a courtesy warning na puno and will have to wait). Took me a half hour driving at every level. Till I asked a guard if I could use the "overnight" level (the topmost and uncovered). He hesitated a little and then said, "ok pasok po kayo then kanan...". Ang daming slots. I guess may mga hindi naman overnight pero nasa covered parking. Anyway, I arrived about an hour before the expected arrival (4PM). The flight status screen indicated the plane already arrived on time, but around 4:30 my mother messaged that they had already landed but the plane was idling on the tarmac because of "traffic". They finally came out at almost 6pm and we got out of the parking almost 6:30pm so I now had to pay a penalty. This brings me to my rant, what if it was NAIA's or the airline's fault, either delayed arrival or traffic at the tarmac?

October 3rd, 2024 12:00 PM #760in some hospital parkings,
enterprising investors put up steel parking structure above the ground-level slots.
unlike concrete, hindi naman daw masyadong mahal...
sigh.
... waiting for a docking berth is nothing new, even 10 years ago... abroad and here.
there's simply too much air traffic nowadays.
i remember decades ago,
we were at the airport, 5 minutes after leaving the haus.
we live just across the edsa...
now, 30 minutes is already very good time.
