About Singapore

Singapore is a very tiny country, no bigger than metro manila. Once you've visited every place in Singapore, it's not something you would consider returning. Maybe, once or twice, that's it. Nothing to see. Boring. For the food, sure it's good, but, you can get the same from Malaysia since both countries share the same culture.

I would book a flight to Malaysia since there are so many things to explore there. It's a big country. You wouldn't miss Singapore.

If you want to hit two birds with one stone and if it's your first time going to Singapore, I would rather go to Malaysia first then take a bus to Singapore crossing the Johor-Singapore causeway. Two countries, one ticket. No need VISA.

^ KL to SG by bus is about 5-6 hours depending on traffic. there's no direct flight from Manila to JB. if you are on a tight schedule and still want to visit Malaysia - that'll be MNL-SG by air and SG to JB by bus.

I went on a day trip to KL on my last trip to Singapore. I rode the midnight bus from SG-KL and that's where I slept too to save on lodging. Trip was about 6 hours.

Then spent the day around KL (there's really not much to see, MNL > KL).

After dinner and drinks, I took the bus back to SG again and did some last minute shopping before flying back home.

It was a tiring day trip but it was worth it for me since my main objective was to visit my friend who lives there, and it was a new adventure for me.

It was also nice seeing KL as the intermediary stage for the Philippines before we become first world like Singapore - Manila is actually comparable to KL if you only look at BGC and Makati. But the infrastructure (roads, trains, etc) is much better so it's easy to see that it's what we need to focus on to spur growth. I do wish the road to NL and SL will be as good as the road from KL to JB within my lifetime.

it would depend, on what you want to see, and how in-depth you want to see it in.
a tourist can do seeing four sites in one day, just to say one saw it.
but i can spend an entire day inside the domed garden, and not feel bored.
kung mamalasin, one can universal studios in one whole day, and still not get to ride and see everything.
one can dine in a different scheme every night for a week, and still miss out on something.

three days is tight schedule. "i wouldn't be happy doing it, as i would be rushing rushing, and not relaxing, which is the objective of the trip... right?"
if the tourist is not squeemish, he can take a cheap hotel and stretch his stay to a week.
one, at the most two, tourist spots a day.
food isn't that expensive, if one chooses where to eat.
as is in every location, local color can be expensive and cheap.
