    i wonder what caused it.
    it don't look like a natural sinkhole in the geologic way,
    is it possible, the leaking water eroded away the ground, causing it to sink...?

    Most probably a busted main water line somewhere deep underneath. There has been a depression there for the longest time. Finally broke through.

    i wonder,
    parang meron akong malabong natatandaan,
    did this start as a very slight depression on the asphalt road of several months old?

    Sinkholes are ninjas. Unless you regularly test (using sonar? ground penetrating radar?) they happen with no warning, and usually there's no reason to test naman.
    Having good construction might make it even worse because the road doesn't collapse until the sinkhole is really large.

    I remember passing sales road last good Friday and there was a construction going on along that stretch. I'm not sure if that's the exact location though.

    Some areas are prone to sinkholes such as areas with limestones as the bedrock and areas with cave systems.
