February 4th, 2015 11:43 PM #11yes, i find the stock rear view mirrors too narrow-minded.
i, too, bought a wide angle rear view mirror. much better! the only rear view i can't see, is what my head covers.. for that, i use my left side mirror.
its only problem, is at night. you can't get rid of headlight glare from behind..

I bought the blue one.

adjust your side mirrrors.. you don't need to see the body of your car..
safest way to overtake pag kita mo na yung 2 headlight nang car besides you.. and signal your intention to overtake before you make your move.. yung iba signal sabay kabig na agad.. worst yung iba hindi na nag sisignal..

February 6th, 2015 10:53 AM #14Tignan mo lahat. Bawat mirror ay may kanya kanyang blind spot and limitations kaya nilagyan ng left, rear, and right view mirrors.

Bro.,- not totally in agreement, especially since driving here in the Philippines, is oh so extra demanding....
Kung sa highway,- after looking at the side view mirror,- you have to validate the scene by turning your head a bit to see if another car is just beside you....

the surest way to check is to turn your head and look. no mirrors short of highly convex types (like those used by tractor trailer heads) will ever let you see what is beside your car. many accidents have happened because drivers look at their side mirrors and assumed there is no vehicle beside theirs when they see nothing in the mirror. if you turn your head and just give it a momentary glance then you are sure. overtaking a vehicle on the right or left or just making a lane change, turn your head and look. it takes less than half a second to do so.
an alternate way to turning your head is to just lean forward a little while looking at the side mirror. start from your usual position, look at the mirror then make a quick lean forward. this technique gives you a "panned" image and will give you a more complete picture of what is beside your car. even just 6 inches movement forward will give you many feet wider coverage.

i heard that, in some locales, if you don't turn your head to look, bagsak ka sa driving test. is this true?
because if it is, then we still have to turn our heads, even as we already have our licenses.Last edited by dr. d; March 12th, 2015 at 10:29 AM.
