June 15th, 2009 08:57 PM #3392Well besides the leaf springs for the hilux and the coil springs for the fortuner for their rear suspension, the setup is identical. Leaf springs were used for the hilux for the additional weight it will carry, it's a pickup after all.
I read the C! Buyer's guide and saw the Fortuner 3.0 having a 0-100kph run in just 11.41 seconds as compared to the Montero 3.2's 17.62 seconds. Is this really reliable? C! recorded this using their vbox and the 6 second difference is a bit too big, even the everest 3.0 had a similar 17 second run. If it were true, then wow the 3.0 D-4D really has some muscle.

June 28th, 2009 02:19 AM #3395Fortuner has already proven it's worth as an SUV for the last 4 years. Otherwise, it would'nt be selling as it is today. Well, buying an SUV serves a purpose, i must say, than having a nice tagtag-free ride. Otherwise, buy a sedan or a car-based SUV. My point is, buyers should refuse to buy Fortuner not because of it's harsh ride but because they need a sedan, not an SUV. In the end, if a buyer still insist on buying an SUV, then he should be prepared to get a ride of an SUV.
By the way, i own an '08 Fort and my kids never complained on the ride even at the 3rd row. The ride performance is relative to the number of passengers. With 5 passengers or more, its ride is just right and very stable. The cabin is spacious and a perfect fit for my family. When we relocated, the car serves as a utility vehicle and you can really put a lot of stuff when seats are folded. It is fit on the kind of roads that we have here in the Phils (with all those potholes especially during rainy season, it kinda gives some sense of security for me and my passengers). It also has it's own draw backs: difficult to park because of its size, maneuverability is difficult on tight spaces and yes, it consumes a lot of gas. These drawbacks, however, are alright considering it's an SUV and it should behave like an SUV. The satisfaction i've felt after driving this vehicle for the last 8 months must be the same satisfaction the other Fortuner owners felt all these years. No regrets whatsoever.

Comparable po ba ang ride quality ng Fortuner sa Innova? Kasi kung pareho o halos pareho lang naman, okay na okay na ang Fortuner! (at least para sa akin... haha)

June 28th, 2009 10:12 PM #3400I honestly don't understand how they can say the 3rd row of the montero has more space than the fortuner's. Everest is ok, downside lang is no headrests.
Just waiting for an intercooled version of the 2KD-FTV to arrive in our shores, but that's impossible.
