The problem seem to be where the part was sourced from. The local RAV4 is made in Japan.
According to an application to China's quality control office, it wants to recall 75,552 RAV4 vehicles there.
Toyota wants to recall the RAV4 vehicles in China from 28 February.
The cars in question were manufactured between 19 March 2009 and 25 January 2010 in Tianjin, according to a notice on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China.
The specifics of the recall in Europe have yet to be decided.
Colin Hensley, general manager of Toyota's European operations, said the carmaker was trying to establish how many European models shared the parts used in the cars recalled in the US.

It won't fail they just need to go smaller. Too many cars, not a lot of buyers. Kaya nga GM and Chrysler had to become smaller too...

Pero di ba toyota and other big company would usually have a standard specifications when it comes to parts assembly and manufacturing. I think maliwanag naman na its a design flaw so regardless kung saan pa manufactured yung car, most likely the same problem would occur.
Sa tingin ko nag aantay lang ng incident report ang toyota. I don't think these casas would have the initiative to check and recall vehicles sa atin. Warranty nga lang ng car ang hirap ng mag claim.
I think for now what we can do on our part is to do a pre driving test car and check the accel pedal. Be alert and cautious (keep a safe distance and safe speed) while driving especially if a family member is riding with you. Since drive by wire ang tech na gamit ng toyota, its even more dangerous kasi electronic component na ang nag cocontrol ng acceleration and there is no way for us to tell kung defective. Also, pwede rin naman na bumabalik ang pedal pero yung electrical signal comming from the pedal is still telling the engine to rev.

So far so good naman, wala naman and hopefully, walang incident na ganitong mangyari.
