November 15th, 2024 10:09 AM #545If made in Japan lang sana cguro unit dito, then malaking chance maganda quality.
Mahal nga lang price pagdating dito.
Iba pa rin talaga mga made in Japan units.
Even corollas that are made in USA are inferior than made in Japan units.

But they are reliable, which was the point, even against Honda, IMO.
I know this is NOT apples to apples comparison so, take this with a grain of salt.
I had a 2008 Honda Civic 1.8S A/T (FD). I owned it for 7 years and aside from the PMS items, it has had the following parts repaired or replaced.. in no particular order:
Steering rack leak (warranty replacement)
Engine support - Passenger side (warranty replacement 2x, own pocket 2x)
Shock absorber leak - Passenger side rear (warranty replacement)
Undiagnosed rattle in firewall/fender area - passenger side front (In and out of the shop 4x until I just gave up)
Power steering vane pump leak (Repair kit)
VTEC valve leak (Repair kit)
Valve cover leak (Repair kit)
A/C condenser fan motor (Replaced)
Door lock actuator assy - Passenger door front (Replaced)
Rear hub bearings (Replaced)
Then in 2015, I replaced it with a 2016 Toyota Innova 2.5 G... owned this for 9 years.
Shock absorber leak - Driver side front (Warranty replacement)
... that's it.
Both were daily-driven in harsh Metro Manila traffic.Last edited by oj88; November 15th, 2024 at 11:06 AM.

Japanese culture is different... they want the best for their countryman/local market.
even items they build for export, iba ang quality sa locally manufactured for local use...
just look at the rice cookers sold locally. if Japanese version, better quality and cheaper compared to the international version (also sold sa Japan)

November 15th, 2024 11:25 AM #548And even the durability of their products, they tend to throw away the product for a certain period of time to replaced it with a new one.
They do so daw para umikot daw pera nila ulit sa local economy.
And the factory that made those great products will still keep making them.
Amazing mindset.

in a perfect world... wala dapat tayong savings.
buy anything we want, go everywhere we want.
when its time to retire, enough dapat si SSS/GSIS, PhilHealth etc. > pero iilang countries lang naman talaga ang kaya ito. kaya we (Pinoys and almost any other developing country) will have no choice but to save.

balik tayo sa Raize... IMO, Toyota was confident enough to put their badge in it, sell it in their dealerships and service the car.
minsan naisip ko... from the 1st gen until the 4th gen Tamaraw - sinabi din kaya ng neighbors natin na hindi totoong Toyota yan, designed in Sta. Rosa yan
If the Toyota Urban Cruiser was sold locally... masiisip din kaya nating Vitara sya?
My wife's best friend bought a Raize this year... less than 2 months old yung car nya and she's very happy with it. I was initially pushing her to check out the Sonet (I find the XForce over priced) or the entry level Kicks (that 200K difference is the coding exemption). Pero she prefers the "T" badge
Every time she starts that Turbo engine, bothered ang misis ko kasi weird daw ng tunog/vibration ng engine (and starter) - she keeps asking if its normal o dahil daw Raize yung car nya? I told her na the car is casa maintained, so nakikita dapat nila if something is wrong with the car... and the engineers who designed that car is definitely smarter than us
Secretly... I told her friend to try a higher octane gasoline... 91 kasi gamit nya. I also find the car's noise weird... pero masaya sya with her new car, and yun lang naman ang important.
