Ah yes, I remember nauso din yang Solex locks in the 90's, a lot of the accessory stores in Banawe had them.

They fell out of favor when people realized that car doors are mechanically easy to open, regardless of lock mechanism. I saw one guy in Banawe simply use a long wire once para hugutin yung mechanism. A less refined way would be to simply break a glass panel and reach in.

    sudden memory light!

i once purchased a very used sedan, with solex door lock.
it was years later, that i found out, that even a paper clip could have unlocked that "solex".
    heh heh.

    kasalanan nang hollywood.
they make it look so easy, in them movies.

    my guess is,
mere possession of the gadget is a crime.

The Honda Civic EG door lock was easy to bypass using a wire coat hanger or GI wire bent into a hook. Well most 80s - 90s cars used the same door lock panel design. I remember getting on a Corolla Big body taxi with holes drilled through the all 4 door lock actuators. I asked the driver, he said it was to make opening the doors easier in case he left the keys inside.

    unless sira the lock,
most car door locks are designed to make it more difficult for you to lock yourself out of your car, with the keys inside.

and i am wary of taxis whose door locks are non-functional.
    it makes for holdap moves.

Eto nalang gawin, kunin starter relay at fuse pump habang ginagawa pa yung key fobs.

Pero if maalam magnanakaw, magbaon na yan ng relays just in case Innova talaga yung target.

Uso pa ba nakaw-gulong on Innovas or other similar designs with the spare tire under the chassis? I know it's a lottery, but statistically... is it still a major concern today?

When I bought my previous Innova in 2015, spare tire thefts were a bit more common. Sabi nila (whether true or scare tactic lang to get you to buy a lock), sisipain lang daw yung spare tire into submission and it will literally come lose from its carrier so I had a lock installed from the factory. Nowadays... in fact, at least in the last 6-8 years, wala na akong nababalitaan.

i had my original spare mag stolen, years ago.
i had since installed a cheap bicycle lock, and no mo' stealin' happened.
of course, my replacing it with a steelie with a used tyre, instead of an alloy with brand new tyre, could have somethin' to do with it...

Good day Tsikoteers. I have Innova 2013 G D A/T with 85K odo. May recurring unusual noise galing sa dash board tapat ng passenger side. Parang tunog ng fan na may tinatamaan na lata. It usually starts when the gear is engaged and stops when the speed gets pass 40kph. Pag high speed sa highway, nawawala, pero pag bababa yung speed to less than 40kph tutunog nanaman. Pagnaka neutral or Park nawawala din.

May nakakaalam ba or nakaexperience kung ano cause nito? TIA.
