June 29th, 2005 03:40 PM #321Most people who have reserved a Fortuner are already expecting the July increase. Some said its will be close to 100T pesos. Some have resort to black market purchases. as much as 150T per unit.

according to my toyota dealer, the price increase of 6% is definite and will take effect this July
this brings the price of the 2.7L fortuner to P1,264,580 and that is just the price of the unit without the insurance, lto registration, etc -- IF YOU CAN GET THIS DEAL
now considering that you have to swallow their IHF, IHI and all other in house charges, at the end of the day the price of the 2.7L fortuner will shoot up as follows:
a. at 50% DP with 1 year to pay -- P1,413,348
b. at 90% DP with 1 year to pay -- P1,355,094
with the rising price of gas, i have definitely reconsidered getting the 2.7L at the price above.
the 3.0L d4d will be somewhere near the P1.7 to P1.8 range.
hmmmmmm ..............

IMHO, there is only unfair market practice here or misrepresentation if the reservation conditions state that the one making the reservation is protected from a price increase. unfortunately, i did not see that in my reservation receipt. and neither can the reservation fee be considered as earnest money or option money as the concept is known in contract law.
thus, rather than lose my hair ranting and raving about it, i step back, look at my options and then decide.
toyota is lording it over now because there is no credible alternative. its their luck and their time now.
and no amount of threats to my agent / dealer can make them fork over that fortuner if they really do not want to
and i would not want to stoop down to that level either

Medyo OT
To owners of both Fortuner and '02-'05 CR-V,
Which vehicle can haul more cargo, if you were to tumble and fold the passenger seats?
