February 16th, 2019 01:25 PM #3182Good Afternoon Sirs,
I was hoping to ask for advice. I currently own a 1998 Mitsu Lancer. Ok naman siya but I was thinking of buying a second hand car this year. Budget ko is around 300k to 400k. maybe more kung kelangan but not much. I'm torn between 10.5 gen altis and 3rd gen vios, both automatic kasi almost the same price na rin sila. btw, solo lang ako so its either 2 to 4 passengers lang. sa kotse. don't plan to use it much except for out of town trips kasi may may motmot naman ako for nearby errands. thanks

February 16th, 2019 02:54 PM #3183i wouldn't buy a second car, if i intend to use it sparingly only.
maintenance and wear and tear, just sitting there in the garage...
i speak from experience.
the older altises and the vioses, may look big on the outside, but are really not-that-big, on the inside. try them on for size before plunging.

I am with dr.d on not having 2 cars if will only be used sparingly.
I now have a 9th and a 10.5 gen. I try to balance my usage but still, after a year one had just around 3,000 kms. The other one just barely made past 5,000 kms. Yung 5k na-change oil ko na although previously I only do it at 8k+. So yung isa siguro by one more month pa bago mag-OC. Sayang din kasi fully synthetic tapos oversized filter pa. At one time, nasira pa yung battery ko (although 4++ years na rin) since di ko nagamit ng ilang weeks. Then yung bagong battery na-drain din since di ko ulit nagamit ng ilang weeks. So now I made it a point na ma-swap ko sila twice a week.
About the Vios and the Altis naman, I'd go with the 10.5 gen kung same price as the Vios at good condition naman. Fuel consumption concerns for me is a bit overrated. Drive economically, and you will enjoy the power and roominess of the bigger sedan.
