Unfortunately these things happen when you leave your car at the stealership. Best to watch the work being done and then take it home come closing time if you can. If it will take more than a day, just take the car back the next day. Problem is when the job that has to be done won't allow the car to be taken home for the day. These guys will have a field day, specially if the unit is new.

Left my car for bumper repainting before in Toyota BGC. No issues whatsoever when I got it back.
The internet loves to hate on dealerships, but I've seen firsthand local talyers that screw up your car as well and don't even know what they're doing.

It's happened to us before jut. Just recently (this year) I took our GS to a Hyundai dealership to have the EGR valve replaced. Left it overnight. When I got it back, it was spewing bluish white smoke during cold starts. Turned out to be leaking injectors. Am 100% sure that wasn't there before. Casa switched my injectors with some much older ones.
In the past I was also offered by a Nissan mechanic in a dealership to switch my broken a/c compressor with one from a unit having PMS done. I politely said no and never came back.
People in these dealerships are all prone to temptation just like we are. It is just up to management to find a way to prevent these things from happening.

No doubt bro the anecdotal stories are true. I was just saying thay even sidestreet shops are just as notorious.
Of course, dealerships have a greater responsibility to uphold higher standards of service because they're the official representatives of the car brands and they also charge higher, so I understand where the vitriol is coming from.

On a similar note, I heard a scary story from a neighbor regarding the bad service of Toyota Alabang. He brought his Hilux for a minor repair on the fender and Toyota Alabang told him the vehicle will be ready in a week. A week has passed and still not done. After another week, Toyota Alabang said it is still not done so my neighbor decided to give them a visit. To his surprise, the whole bumper was repainted plus a few parts were changed. Toyota Alabang said they are doing all such services for free but the manager came out clean telling him his Hilux got into an accident when it was used to ferry parts from the Toyota Santa Rosa plant. What a shame! My neighbor told me he is not buying Toyota again.

always review the job list and cross out what you can do yourself or don't need. examples are:
1. P650 car wash. it only costs p120 outside.
2. brake cleaning. duh! anyone can spray brake cleaner to a brake disc! except probably when it is a brake drum that most here can't do or don't have time to.
3. fan belt/belt conditioner. another duh! if it does not squeek then you don't need it. if it does then buy a can and do it yourself.
4. fluid top ups. don't tell me you don't know how.
5. those supposedly 30 or 40 point checks they do and charge you Pxxxx for. check that windshield wiper yourself and maybe you will learn something.
as for leaving you car at the casa or any repair shop, ALWAYS MAKE SURE THEY KNOW THAT YOU NOTED DOWN THE ODO READING. if they see you do this then they will never take your car out for a joy ride. as for test drives that should be no more than 2 or 3 km. or tell them that you would like to be present during the test drive.
