Toyota has been studying the Hybrid system for a very long time. This should make buyers comfortable with their products new tech.

Ah I get it now. Probably varies between models, and mostly comes down to the difference between curb and gross weights.

The Hilux that can take 1000kg payload is probably the single cab long bed 2wd only version. The crew cab 4wd is the one with just 470kg payload.

The Prius has been around since late 1997. With studies and development started in late 80's to early 90's. This is a very good benchmark for their hybrid systems. For me its long been proven.

    Toyota Hilux specifications | TrucksBuses.com.

I am curious about the Hilux they mention though with only 470kg rated payload capacity. It is a dual cab and a 4x4 in this link above. but when you check the publication from ph

    https://phil kotse.com/market-news/w...-capacity-6853

same dual cab config but I think this conquest trim they mention is a 4x2, it is rated at 1,115kgs

below is another source stating the same approx 1 ton payload capacity for a single cab

Specifications for Toyota Hilux Single Cab AN1?/AN2?/AN3?

So no idea if the limitation of 470kgs payload comes from Toyota themselves, or perhaps how it was registered in India only? Coz I don't think the 4x4 components would be 500kgs total causing the payload to be so low. Or maybe India limits it for pickups there maybe? hehe!

EDIT: but going back to the Zenix, still haven't seen it in the metal but it is interesting.
I wonder if they plan on releasing a model in the future where it doesn't have the motorized captain chairs for the second row and the more "typical" 60:40 split bench for the 2nd row?
