Because it's my job. I have visibility on how much each and every dealer of our brand in the entire country makes. I am in charge of controlling the prices of the sites in my area so I know how much it can impact my dealers.

I did not say that dealers don't earn/lose from price increases/rollbacks. They do, but only for one turnover. Any gains are purely opportunistic as this is not the main avenue for profit of a gasoline station. To illustrate:
    - dealer has 1000 liters inventory which he bought at P50
    - His average daily sales amount to 500 liters
    - There was a price increase of 50 cents
    - He will have opportunistic income for 2 days. However when his inventory runs out he will have to purchase new stock at the increased price.

This applies to both major and independent players.

However, for dealers of major oil companies, they are not the ones who absorb the margin loss when prices are compressed. For example, one site decides to give a 1-peso discount for jeepneys. That is not taken from their own margins (which is kept intact no matter what price changes happen). It's the company that supports them.

Your kumpares in the province might be owners of independent unbranded stations, because they have lower purchase prices but have no additional support should there be a price war. Their business model is much simpler - they buy from wholesalers and sell at retail prices to make a profit.

Yung shell along EDSA southbound, between Kamuning and Q.Ave station, may discount ng 2 pesos per liter. Tapos may pinipirmahan na card per pakarga mo. I think you need to fill 8 signatures. Di ko alam actually kung ano mangyayari kapag nakumpleto mo, di kasi ako nakinig kay kuya.

EDIT: I don't know exactly how I got eligible for the discount. Basta I always put in Nitro+ full tank, and pay using my citibank shell card.
