MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Interior and Local Government is looking at tapping Chinese-Filipino communities in towns and cities to help address the lack of fire trucks and other fire equipment.
Particularly, the DILG will ask help in putting up fire stations in provinces that lack fire trucks. Secretary Jesse Robredo cited as example Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, where a fire at a budget hotel left 16 people killed.
Records of the DILG show that there are 689 towns in the country with no fire trucks. The official is set to meet with volunteer fire fighters next week to lay out the proposal.
"Ideally, we are looking at urban centers or areas where Filipino-Chinese businessmen have businesses to put up a fire station," Robredo told a news conference.

hmmmm... cant believe that the government is asking assistance to the volunteers to add more people in the provinces... dito nga sa metro manila yung 'ibang' government firefighters galit sa volunteers...

sample is if they arrive late in the scene... tapos siyempre nag pile-up na yung trucks.. malayo na sila.. at hindi na aabot yung hose nila... logically dapat mag share na lang sila ng tubig sa kalapit na truck na ubos na... pag volunteer ang ang truck, ayaw nila mamigay ng tubig..

tapos magpapadagdag sila ng mga volunteers pa?

Allow me also to give a little recognition to those fire/rescue volunteers who helped a lot of people during the flooding dun sa Talisay and Silay city nung monday. Hindi sila lahat chinoy but all were volunteers.

Alam ko meron mga tsikot members dito, you know who you are.

    Thank you.
