I've had no problems with Zuk reliability. Even GlennSter's shop can service them. Engine shares a lot with the Vitara. All units are built in Japan. May ibabang trim levels. The highest being the Limited model with alloy wheels and rear spoiler.
Ang baba ng benta niya sayo ha. Sa Autocamp Php 250k ang ganyan. Was initially looking for one. Kaya lang dahil used hindi pwede ipasok sa financing. Sayang.

ehrm. a friend of mine has one.
it's a pretty rare car so parts are scarce and expensive (but what's new). from my discussions with my friend, the maintenance cost is about the same as a midsize (2.0L) car, meaning, expensive. and there are so few places you can buy parts (well there's always pilhino, but they are expensive).
the esteem is not the zuk.since it's much less common, parts are really harder to come by.

Downside nyan spare parts availability. Kahit mura, sakit naman ng ulo pag may sira.

Trim parts are quite expensive (aren't they always?). But consumables are not. I had GlennSter quote me on the 80thou service of the Vit [more work than compared to the Steem] and the price was still reasonable.

friend who has an esteem was quoted 5k-ish for an engine support. :P
i don't know how much it costs for mainstream 1.6L cars but that struck me as pretty expensive.

M7 can make engine supports. Cruven works on the suspension well enough (though I still prefer new shocks, the rest of their services are OK), Mang Mario for the a/c, and GlennSter's shop for general maintenance and servicing. For heavier service, I go to Motorcraft in Banawe.
That's basically my service plan for the Vit. Couldn't see how it would not work for the 'Steem.
Maybe its just a matter of finding the right service at the right prices.

hehe yup i heard about those m7 engine supports. my experience has been less than positive though; in a fit of cheapness i had m7 fabricate some trailing arm bushings to save some cash. they lasted less than 5000km :P waste of time and effort.

Was browsing through through some sites and learned that the Suzuki Esteem is still in production in India as the Maruti Baleno.
