as for the 5dr, this one probably has more indian content. sa tires palang made in india na.
So if 3dr parts are mostly made from Japan, what's the advantage of sending it to India via CKD and assemble there, then ship it back to PH?
If labor ang difference, ganun ba kalaki ang difference than doing/assembling it from JP and shipping it from JP to PH?
Malayo din ata if shipping from India to PH.

Mahal for a 4 seater car. It’s already in the price range of most CUVs, and even fortuner.

maybe the parts suppliers in japan (like aisin transmission, radiator, etc) could produce parts faster than suzuki could assemble them in that 1 assembly line for jimny in japan, and suzuki themselves could stamp out body panels very rapidly. the production bottleneck probably is the actual assembly process, spot welding the body, painting, assembling all the parts together, etc. global demand is super high they couldn't build them fast enough so they decided to have another assembly line in india

Agree na mahal compare to the other offerings at that price point. Jimny selling point i would think is its looks ( to the young ones who used it in the city 100% of the time, and the not so young ones hehe), and the 4WD capability for the enthusiast with the addtl space.

From the launch pic, it looks like the 2nd row has a good legroom, need to see in flesh.

let's see how many local costumers it'll attract...
my guess is, it'll sell out fast.

If its tsill using the same engine its severely underpowered for the additional weigh over the 3dr.

Sana hindi matulad sa 3door - nag collect ng reservation fee pero walang dumating kaya bumili nalang ulit ng ibang SUV.

I can't still imagine if they will really achieve their target for this unit with their pricing.
Baka mahalintulad to sa Vitara, gone for good na.

    Ano advantage nito Jimny 5Dr (102HPish + 4WD) vs SUV with (180HP+ + 2WD) when offroading?
Nung naging 1.3M ang Yaris Cross V, namamahalan ako at first.
But toyota compensate it naman with the features na bihira sa price range nya.
Add to that yung driving dynamics is improving daw (base on youtube reviewers).
But itong Jimny 5Dr, lumaki lang ng bahagya but still using the old engine for 3Dr.
At nakipagcompete na sa Diesel SUV yung pricing.

    in my opinion,
the typical local buyer of this car won't be driving it away from the asphalt or concrete.
he's buying it because he wants to.

not really. same weight lang as 7seater 1.5 ertiga xpander etc. but yeah won't be as "zippy" as 3dr which isn't zippy to begin with

2wd almost completely useless offroad. won't even climb a little mound of dirt. hanggang level hardpack lang ang 2wd

but yeah jimny 5dr doesn't make sense at all when the mid level ranger 4x4 a/t is around 1.6m
