For those who've seen the new XT: is it still a 4-speed AT or will it sport a 5-speed? The Highlights section of the MIAS web site (http://www.manilaautoshow.com/highlights/index.htm) doesn't say anything about the tranny. Thanks.

April 5th, 2011 05:59 PM #795Hey MICGIL. What do you need in the vehicle? In my view, pick the Fortuner only if you absolutely need those two extra seats (which are quite cramped and take up some of the trunk space, because they don't fold flat.), the extra ground clearance, and the toughness of the truck frame and solid rear axle. Or if you need more serious off-roading qualities, like the transfer case.
Otherwise, the Forester has ample ground clearance anyway at 8.9 inches, a nicer/more stable drive, a huge trunk without seats that get in the way, probably a more comfortable ride, and some other things that make the Forester a better buy. hope this helps.[/quote]
Alright, here are my thoughts:
> fortuner brings about everything I need in a car. tough looks, power, speed, fuel efficient (8km/L diesel), ergonomic interior, ground clearance, cargo space, commanding view, off-road capable, high resale, trd options, dealer every where.
> however i want to be unique but cannot afford an X5

If you don't really go major offroading and aren't that conscious about FC, get the FXT. It's faster, rides better, handles better and there aren't as many of them on the road. It's not just fast, it's fast even in the corners. Tried racing one on the twisties in my truck but couldn't keep up.
IMO there are way too many Forts on the road already. Wish Ford and Nissan would bring their latest pickup based SUVs here already.

The Fortuner's ground clearance versus the Forester isn't such a big advantage... the Forester is a very capable stock ride off-road.
And the Forester has a better ride, better handling, better brakes and a better, more comfortable interior. Okay, so, handling-wise and transmission-wise, not quite as good as the Mitsubishi ASX, but it's still a good truck.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

April 7th, 2011 01:02 AM #799Just got back from Aurora ... Baler, Aurora -- not Aurora Boulevard. Through the up-down zig zags, rough roads, and straight on to the beach -- yep. The sand. No back pains too!
And it took me just 5 and a half hours with 4 stops. Normal time according to most people is 6 and a half to eight. And Im a slow driver -- slower than Niky anyway. Dude, get the Fort. hehe.
