Thank you very much Mr Hilario for the excellent suggestions. I will do as you say and try to perform them as stated. I actually read through your previous emails and was able to go to Hybrid months ago and got the rain gutters. Like you, I am very happy with my Actyon and I see to it that it is functioning properly and serviced on time.

As I write this, my reverse sensors apparently just died on me and I will see if this is covered by the warranty as well, when I take it to Wheels for a check up.

Around 5 months ago, I was cruising on the Skyway at 140kph when suddenly, the engine just went on engine-break mode to go down to around 100kph, and the check engine pilot lamp lit up. I went down on the Don Bosco exit to go straight to the Ssangyong Makati dealership. They just told me to leave the car as they will reset some sensor. Their explanation was that there was a rev-limiter activated and they had reset the same to allow the car to take the higher speeds. The incident hasnt occurred again.

I wonder if any of our co-owners had experienced this.

Again, maraming salamat and drive safe everyone!

Actyonman, if I may ask what Actyon model do you have? Where did you bought your actyon?

Based on the max speed on our actyon, it should be able to reach 200+Kph, and a rev limiter if there is one should activate before going beyond the maximum speed. I just wonder why this is the reason given to you by Ssangyong makati.

I actually bought my actyon in Makati, and I find their price to be high so I decided to go to ssangyong main in e. rodriguez which is much lower in price.

    E. rodriguez has some actyon accessories being sold, comparing it to the internet price their price is OK. Just bought a luggage cover, chrome garnish for headlight, rear taillight, and window accent. Also gotten a rear fog lamp installed by e. rodriguez. A front & rear bullbar 2" diameter bar was customized locally and got the idea from the internet as to the design, it turned out to be nice and very unique.

I bought my Actyon Diesel 4AT in Ssangyong Makati last August 2008. I just put 1 pc rear foglamp on the left side, and the window accent.

That was the only reason the guys in Makati told me. Its working fine -- have been enjoying the vehicle since I got it. Sana we could have an eyeball for the group one day. How about it guys?

Na una lang pala ako ng isang buwan sayo actyonman, got mine July 2008 in Ssangyong Makati also. I assume what the Makati ssangyong did is just removed the error code using a SCAN 100 reader. If another check engine happen just turn off your engine the rev limiter is activated for every check engine error. To reset the rev limiter just turn off your engine then on again. And make sure to bring it to e. rodriguez you might have already experienced a vacuum regulator problem causing the check engine, this is usually the problem encountered by casa for our actyon. They will also do cleaning of your EGR valve if need be. I usually fill up with petron diesel before but after it was fixed decided to use shell instead, since they mentioned carbon deposit which is usually a bi-product of diesel if not that clean.

Make it a habit as well every qtr/semi-annual to use diesel fuel injector cleaner or any equivalent which is usually mixed for every 35+ liter/full tank. This will ensure everything is burned up properly in your engine. I already used Liquimoly Diesel Purge parang bago uli takbo I think you know the feeling already.

I'll try to post some PICs later. Enjoy your actyon very unique ang porma nito head turner pa rin up to now.

Now that youve mentioned it, yes, they said it was an error code and that they just reset it. Sige, gagawin ko yung advice mo after I have it serviced at the Total station you mentioned earlier. Salamat ulit Mr Hilario.

    1. Before doing the actual oil change make sure you have the consumables like oil filter. This one you can buy this in Banawe the store is Hybrid if they have a stock it should cost you around 420-460. Otherwise you can buy this in Wheels E Rodriguez between 500-600 pesos.

    2. You then need to buy your oil, in my case I am using Liqui-moly a german brand recommended for ssangyong actyon. Check their website. I'ved already used 5w-40 & 5w-50 and its fully synthetic. In my case my actyon is diesel, so get the right oil for your engine. A 1 liter bottle will cost you around 470 pesos, in actual you will be needing 8 liters as opposed to the 7.5 liters in our actyon manual. The oil spec should be MB 229.1 or MB 229.3 applies to gas & diesel, just read the label before buying.

    3. After or during the change oil make sure to include the cleaning of the air filter & aircon microfilter. The air filter should be easy to spot by your mechanic and the aircon filter try reading thru your actyon manual on how to remove. In my case I also bought a spare air & aircon filter in Wheels, since I cannot find one in Banawe cost is 900+ for air filter and 1600+ for aircon microfilter. And I just replace the filter with my stock, and before keeping the old ones it should be cleaned by spraying compressed air. Your mechanic should know how to clean filter. Then i just rotate this every oil change. Its up to you when to dispose depending on your visual inspection if it canot be reused.

    4. The oil change can be done by any gas station which offers the service. In my case I have tried getting the service from Total located near SM sucat. Reason being they have a complete tool especially the oil used to remove the oil cap for our actyon. Take note the oil cap is plastic and you do not want to damage this not using the right tool or kung di madiskarte yung mechanic. Once you spotted the right place then the labor should be around 100-200 pesos only plus tip if you have extra cash.

So in the end the big question is will DIY void the WARRANTY? The answer is NO. Why, Ived experienced two warranty claims already with ssangyong e. rodriguez after my 20K oil change when I first complained the first problem what they did, they checked the unit, asked some question how and when it happened. Other than that the maintenace was not raised up especially I have no record of the 10K & 20K maintenace with them, only for the 1K & 5K they have a record(which labor is free).

As to the warranty claim 1st problem was a defective oil seal(500pesos) near the propeller shaft. Second was a recurring check engine in the engine itself initially the EGR valve was cleaned after which it was decided to replace the vacuum regulator(responsible in providing air to the engine) cost around 4600 pesos. Since it was classified under warranty did not spent any on this and the labor is free also. It was done last january & february this year only. So you only need to allocate time in sending and getting the unit after service. So in my 30K its still DIY, I'm now 24K odo reading. The service manager & warranty staff of ssangyong e. rodriguez are very professional and approachable. And they see to it your taken cared of and will discuss to you whats the real score. So di sila gaya nang ibang dealer where they use the maintenance not to honor your warranty cliam.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Mr Hilario. I did as you advised. All done including the fuel injector additive. I think I have the same problem you had encountered. The vacuum regulator. I noticed that there was a moisture and some oil coming out of the area near the regulator. I shall proceed to E Rod on Tuesday and have them look at it. I hope that they will fix it for free too. Otherwise, I will let all of you know.

I did 190 Kph once with my 6 speed diesel variant without problems. Kaya lang hanggang don na lang ayaw na umakyat pa kasi try ko sana 200 kph...hehehe
    I don't think it's a rev limiter problem.

Peeps...it turned out that the vibration problem Im experiencing with my Actyon is coming from the transmission....Wheels need to replace the whole assembly but unfortunately I have to wait for the replacement unit since they dont have a spare in the country....bad trip....
Hope you guys dont ever experience this kind of hardship (being without a car) Im undergoing despite the fact that my Actyon is just a mere 1 1/2 years....with just around 20K mileage.
