I just saw one at Megamall today.
I immediately wrote it off, thinking, "egads! it's a Ssangyong! and it probably costs 1.5 million pesos!"
Imagine my shock to learn that the base-level 2.3L gasoline with manual transmission is 899K. And the 2.3L gasoline with automatic is 949K.
Admittedly, at that price class, you only get one airbag, a cheesy-looking "Ssangyong" stereo, and hard plastics on the dash.
But... it has a ladder-frame. This is a real SUV, not a car converted into an SUV. And it's the price of a Hyundai Tucson 2.0L CVVT manual! and it has a 2.3L engine!
I only looked inside it for a short while (medyo sumama loob ko na ka-presyo niya ang aming Mazda3 hatchback). But the doors slam nicely (about 70% as nicely as a Benz E-class), the fit and finish is fairly good.
And it looks good! for a Ssangyong, it looks surprisingly good. Actually if I could buy a car all over again, I'd get it, over the Mazda3 hatch we're currently paying off.
Yes, the front can take some getting used to. But the rest of it is quite aesthetic. And for the price!

:shocked2:
It's that cheap???
It thought it was priced at around 1M something. Though it looks really weird... oops... it's a Ssangyong... it's supposed to look weird.

Saw a website for Ssangyong makati but it's still under construction. Any other dealers for this? Very interesting, given the price range.

Good day Sir! Wheels Inc. in E Rodriguez, Quezon City is one of the biggest dealers of those cars! They also give out test drives if requested! (hehehehehe) Di po ako SA ng Ssangyong ha! Nagkataon lang they were asking me to test drive one kase nga skeptic ako sa car na yan dati pero ang dami ko na rin nakikita sa daan ngayon.

September 11th, 2009 11:15 PM #9its my first time to post in this page.. but it won't probably be the last! hehe.. coz we own a Ssangyong Actyon.. the 2.3 gas M/T version..black color..
grabe its been 2 years since we got it fr ssangyong manila bay.. we got fooled by the guys there! hehe.. joke..
our actyon is the 20th unit in the Phils! hehe..sabi ng mga tga casa un.. test market daw kc.. we were asked to reserve the vehicle for 10k.. kc next shipment pa nila months pa daw.. so we got it!
we love our actyon very much! its our first brand new SUC! .. 2 yrs na smen to.. running 70tkms... but still parang bago padin cya.. basta CASA maintained niu lng palage..
very smooth ang run.. quiet pa sa loob.. u wont feel na 100kph na ung run! hehe.. head turner pa! pg nka-park sa skul eh.. taob ung ibang SUV brands! hehe
iba tlaga ang Actyon.. simply the best Sports Utility Coupe! sana dumami pa mga actyon owners!!! hope maganda dn ang track-record nya and Resale-Value.... guys i wonder if its really a benz engine?? .. kasi nkita ko nga ung sa E230 parehong pareho eh..Long Live the Actyon!!! hahaha

January 30th, 2013 12:17 AM #10Tips on fellow Actyon owners: our car is not as unique as we earlier perceived in terms of maintenance servicing/repair. It can be maintained by any of our trusted mechanics..having it serviced by wheels is not really necessary as it can be done by any gas service center....parts can easily be ordered from Filipino based in Korea (proven ok and can be trusted...check nyo sa sulit Blastrading. Sigurado half the price compared to wheels or apparently ex wheel experts....na hindi naman. Be careful also in dealing w apparently "currently wheels employed" mechanic doing works at your home....aside from overpriced services nila..di pa maayos..di na sisipot pagnagkaproblema....siguro ganito rin sila sa wheels.. Anyway, it's your call. Just my experience.
