"Some fighters know when to stop on their own and go on to something else, and then some fighters have nothing to go back to after they are finished. Some fighters still have the burning fire and feel that they just need to try one more time. Few can do it.”
-words from Marvin Hagler, a true champion in that sense of the word.
He ruled the middle weight diadem in the mid-1980s. He lost a controversial bout to Sugar Ray Leonard on a split decision in a fight where "Leonard employ the hit, move, hold" tactics. After he did not get a rematch that following year, he retired form boxing.
Ano kaya ang move ni Pacman?

Well in Marvelous Hagler's case, after several years he was indeed offered with a larger paycheck to fight Leonard again. But he refused.
Hagler lost the mojo to fight again after one year of rest and not fighting in the ring. It was rematch within a year or none. What amazes me is his total dedication to his boxing career. No distractions while at it. When boxing no longer interest him, decided to leave and pursue other things. A mark of a true champion.
On a side note, Hatton retired after being knocked out by Pacquiao. But decided to go back to the ring. And was knocked out again. He decided to retire again. An inglorious end.
In Manny's case, perhaps, due to being a PPV "superstar" his next fight would be Marquez again. Or Mayweather, sensing Pacquiao's decline, may decide to finally give the go signal to fight Manny who, by the way, have really lost a big chip on the negotiating table given his recent loss. In either case, there is a distinct possibility that Manny would meet a similar fate as what he is currently facing. Possibly, an inglorious end.
Nobody wants a loser. And there goes his ambition in politics, TV, etc.Last edited by Gerbo; December 9th, 2012 at 07:20 PM.

If you look at the replay closely, Pacman steps on JMM's foot. He got tripped off and Boom!

If Pacquiao still has it, he better look for life's lessons in boxing. I suggest he turned to Roberto Duran, yes, the "hands of stone".
His career was able to proceed after a devastating knockout loss in the hands of Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns. He was able to win another championship years later.
But then again, Duran remained focused solely on his boxing career. He was not a congressman, a TV personality, etc.
Life's lesson? An elite boxing career only spans for a few years. The older you get, the more trying it is. Probably a bit more dedication to your craft --the science, the hardwork, the preparation, the mindset, etc.

On the other side of the fence, more people are amazed at the feat of Marquez.
In their previous fights, his punches were able to connect Pacquiao but it seems Pacman was able to take it.
The latest fight saw him decking Pacman with just one throw. Not once but twice. He was able to do it a year short of his 40th birthday. Where did he get the power?Last edited by Gerbo; December 9th, 2012 at 08:49 PM.

that again? That's normal in a southpaw vs. orthodox stance fight. That's also the reason why Pacquiao has to side step when he lunges to avoid that. Too bad his gilgil got the best of him unlike Marquez who sticked to the game plan and won methodically even if he had the upper hand.
