the way I see it...
may natanggal sa team kasi di sumonod sa rules ng bubble...
para di mag-mukhang masama, sinumbong nya yung team nya and nag leak ng info about something na confidential sana.
naaawa ako sa players na lumipat sa UST because they believe in the system of coach Ayo...
If UST gets suspended or coach is released, mawawalan nanaman sila ng 1 playing year.
***
so sa panahon ngayon, kung di ako maglalaro (required 1 year residency), yung mga nagtanggal sa akin di rin maglalaro!
or regalo nya yung pag-leak ng info sa graduating players ng NEW team nya? (tinalo ng UST ang UP last year)
***
sa side naman ng UP... paano sya nag entrance exam para mag transfer? sana maisip ng UP Men's Basketball na unlike other UAAP schools, tax payer's $$$ was used to pay part of that player's tuition!
If a private entity is sponsoring the Men's Basketball team, I'm sure the money spent on 1 player can be used by 3-4 regular students who are more deserving.

August 30th, 2020 01:29 AM #316This big time stupidity by Ayo and co. may have just cost UST a possible title run in the coming season. With Ateneo losing 5 key players, UST has a very good chance of dethroning them next season but.......

I agree with both points... kaso UP (unlike the other UAAP schools) is a state university.
"Iskolar Ng Bayan" - and they just admitted na of you're good in a sport... lamang ka na sa iba.
So if 30 basketball players (Team A & B + reserves and those serving residency) can get a scholarship based on their "talents," di ba pwedeng sa academically gifted na lang yung 30 slots?
And that's only basketball, being an ex-student athlete, I know na maraming "ghost athletes" na pinapasok sa table tennis, swimming and taekwondo - maipasok lang yung bata sa Unversity kasi may ka-kilala sa taas! They also get exemptions from ROTC and PE! (during our time, soccer ang pinaka-madaling pasukan na sport)
And we all know when a player reaches Team-A di na sila talaga papasok sa classes. If they stay in the school long enough, they will get a diploma and probably be sponsored by a school's alumni for a job.
I agree that what UST did was wrong.
Pero I also know people who worked crazy hard to be in UP kasi its the only school they can afford.

August 31st, 2020 01:17 PM #318my guess is,
the university wants to strike a balance between academics and sports.
...academically gifted nga, but can't shoot the ball in even one out of twenty attempts... standing under the net!
athletically superior nga, but can't even get the alsan award...
i am just happy, i do not have to be the one to make these hard decisions.

kulang na lang ng up fighting maroons isang elite level coach. w/ the arsenal they have for the next 3 season, failure to annex the crown would be a mortal sin.
