Also, it's not as if he's doing a North Korea calling himself a democratic republic but is actually a dictatorship, it's the other way. Bernie is putting himself in a bad position when he calls himself a democratic socialist when he is not (because the word socialism puts people off).

While you're obsessing about technicalities (your words not mine), the policies they promote are about improving the lives of people and the working class. Even the analysts who pointed out thay they're using the wrong term aren't alarmed because at the end of the day, they're still about making lives better. Misused of words in this case doesn't necessarily mean being deceitful. If you're skeptic about them because of it just look at how they stand on other issues.

I'm not even a Bernie fan (AOC maybe) but when you say they have other agendas I'm compelled to comment about it. This will be my last response.

What people are really scared about is the very idea of starving to death under socialism given its horrendous track record. It's undeniably a system that has always ended in abject failure and caused a lot of suffering to millions of families.
While democratic socialism rejects authoritarianism and planned economies, it maintains the main goal of socialism which is social ownership of the means of production. This can be in the forms of worker cooperatives and state-owned enterprises. The inevitable outcome is still economic stagnation due to inefficiency.

It's not really a far-fetched possibility that the long term political agenda of AOC is to turn the USA into a socialist state given the fact that she's a member of the DSA. But then, everyone is subject to change. Maybe she'll adopt a less radical view in the future and turn to an actual social democrat.

Just like Bernie, she calls herself a democratic socialist but what she's describing is social democracy.

1:28 "it's not about government takeover, it's about how much workers have a say in your business, do you have workers on the board, do they enjoy a decent amount of the wealth they create".

This is what I mean when I said it doesn't do them any good to call themselves a dem socialist (when they're not) because some people are turned off by the word "socialism". You assume she's got socialist agenda when she herself doesn't call her that and the analysts don't consider her a democratic socialist either.
