Post-Yojin maintenance, what's your preferred or recommended engine oil brand? For Subaru it's Motul. How about for Mazda SkyActiv engines?

I'm kinda autistic that I usually stick w/ same stuff & habits.[emoji16] Any Euro-blend Fully Synthetic 5w/30 would be fine. Why Euro over US blend? Again, out of habit based on the age old fact that US API-Licensed motor oils offered on retail shelves do not meet those demanding Euro ACEA specifications.
Currently, I've switched to Shell 5w/30, which is euroblend, on all our Petrol cars that were on Castrol Edge 5w/30 due to availability issues in my neckodawoods.
I also prefer to store just 1 type of oil in my parts bin.[emoji4]

Thanks! That was very informative! I've always favored those engine oils from Shell and Petron since these are very accessible unlike the other esoteric brands like Motul and Liqui Moly. I reckon for regular driving, there's no significant advantage with these branded engine oils.

Anytime, sir. Though common oil change interval recommendations now go up 10k kms with synthetics, my OCD still bugs me no end to stay with my normal 5. I keep ours long term. I've seen how good the engine internals on those we did seal swaps on. And, knock on wood, by luck or habit, none are burning oil....no topping up between oil changes even on the oldies....so why tweak what's working, right?
With our worsening traffic, city-roaming engines now register longer operating hours. The odometer simply isn't a good oil swap interval gauge anymore.

Agree. The assumption with the 10,000km oil change interval is not applicable anymore when the car idles for more than an hour at traffic, on a daily basis! In fact, I've read somewhere that synthetic or regular oil, 5000km is still the recommended interval for changing the oil.

Dealerships play cost of ownership down by magnifying the 10k km oil change interval. Sales pitch & sweet talk?[emoji4]

That's true! Naive buyers would always go for the lowest maintenance cost. For those looking for prolonging the car, they will stick with the best practices.
