March 28th, 2017 11:32 AM #1603ano issue sa DCT? I have a fiesta S (with DCT), it's been a solid 5 years of ownership, we specifically got the S vs Trend because of DCT. Not jerky when it shifts, very smooth. You do hear the engine grunt and shifts when you push it abruptly (to overtake, for example) but I only hear it, I don't feel the "jerk" or any shift shock, to me it is normal. In other (conventional) A/Ts I've driven shift shock is noticeable but not on Ford DCTs (Fiesta, Focus, and an SUV I rented, an Escape I think... all good) . It almost feel like driving a CVT.
I like the Fiesta so much (and its DCT) that I am thinking of replacing it with an ecosport when it is time... that's why I visited this thread, haven't been for a while.

The DCT used in the Ecosport is the same as that used in the Focus and Fiesta.
This DCT has been proven to have faulty TCM/PCMs, and many owners have replaced theirs. Those who were unfortunate to have their TCM fail after the warranty period had to pay a hefty sum (north of 70k IIRC).
My officemate's Focus' DCT has been acting up since he bought it in 2013. Usually it heats up in traffic and even shows a warning that it's overheating, forcing you to stop driving temporarily. Now it jerks excessively and Ford advised to replace the whole transmssion assembly, with a very nice 600k pricetag.
So aside from the inherent jerkiness of a DCT in traffic, Ford's DCT hasn't been a great fit to our hellish traffic. All new Fords now have conventional automatics - a very strong indicator that the DCT has been less than stellar.

Tell that to the owners who now need to understand that they bought a vehicle with a transmission that needs understanding ... what they understand is that it's not working well and expensive to repair ... Easy to say these things if you don't own such as vehicle and have never experienced the problems ... reading about it in some article praising DCT is totally different from actually owning a vehicle with a defective transmission that's quite expensive to repair / replace ...Last edited by Walter; April 18th, 2017 at 03:24 PM.

Nagimprove na nga sa aesthetic pero fix or repair daily pa din.
So if you really like the eco sport eh conservative muna....buy the manual transmission para sure.

April 19th, 2017 08:35 PM #1610Just recently bought Ford Ecosport and chose the MT because of the not so good review of its DCT. So far no regrets and its really a bang for your bucks.
