But what if I want to attain good SQ all around the cabin? I'm also overhauling my CRV's sound system and will replace the head unit first. Although currently at the front its ok, the back is a bit terrible. If changing the HU will not improve this, I will change all 4 speakers, if budget allows me. If not, probably the rear speakers because it is really crap.
Do I really need subwoofers or can't i just upgrade the speakers at the back with a bit more ooomph? Thanks.

February 13th, 2016 02:38 AM #1832First advise sq gurus give is not to upgrade the rear speakers, and nost would even disconnect it. The principle is that when listening you normally like the sound stage to be up front and center. Normally you would like rear sounds only for movies...
The subs would be able to produce lower frequency sounds that your rear speakers either wont play or would play poorly. Downside with subs is that they eat up space. Suggest you consider this. For me I opted to use a customized fiberglass enclosure created by Jonz of simplesounds. More expensive than the regular mdf box, but it allowed me to have trunk space. Di halata ni mrs na may subs kaya happy wife, happy life.. He he

In car audio, there is more emphasis on sound coming from the front. In tuning, most would have their car audio system front-biased. The rear speakers will not help in such a case. If using more capable head units with time alignment, you can tune it better to your preference.
Using only a good set of separates and subwoofer, you can filter the high, mid, and low frequencies to be played by the tweeters, midbass, and subwoofer. They would be enough to have that decent listening experience inside your car.

February 15th, 2016 02:50 AM #1836Mga masters, I'm new to the car audio stuff. Nagpunta ako sa isang audio shop dito sa Abu Dhabi at mga pinoy naman ang tao dun. Sabi ko gusto ko lang mag upgrade ng sound system from stock Honda CRV 2015. Eto ang inilagay nila:
DD C5D amp > Gladen RS 165 fronts + Gladen 165 RS rears
DD m.80 amp > DD 512c D2 sub
Still using stock Head Unit ( 2din touch screen) from Honda CRV 2015. Planning to upgrade to Pioneer AVH-X2850BT in the next 2months
added sound deadening (roadkill stinger) also on all five doors.
Ask ko lang kung ok na ba siya sa entry level SQ setup? First impressions ko e ang laking improvement from stock pero expecting more improvement kapag nagpalit na ako ng head unit.
