June 8th, 2014 10:59 AM #2421The point is, there's no philippine law against using your hazard lights while driving, so there's nothing to interpret. By "hazard" lights, you mean yung left and right signal lights na nagbi-blink at the same time right? Kasi parang dapat hindi yun yung dapat gagamitin mo pag sisingit ka. You use your left (kaliwa) signal light when you're changing lanes or going left, tapos right (kanan) signal light when your changing lanes to the right or turning right. This makes more sense kesa hazard (both left and right at the same time) ang gagamitin mo. Regarding using the hazard lights when you're parked on the shoulder in a foggy situation, definitely this is something you should do. The hazard lights in this case make your car more visible while on the shoulder. Thank you for pointing out the studies you've read on this matter but in a situation like this, you have to do every bit to make your car visible to traffic. In the countries that you mentioned, driving on the shoulder is strictly prohibited and you will get a ticket for doing so. Kaya nga when you're parked on the shoulder, you should put your hazard lights on to signal to other drivers that you have an emergency. Good for you that you haven't had any accident, and i pray that you never do. By the way, swerving is not a traffic violation in the philippines. Look it up: www.mmda.gov.ph/penalties

June 9th, 2014 12:43 AM #2422Kahit sir dito sa pinas bawal din mag drive sa Shoulder, specially in expressway but we still do kasi ang kulit nating pinoy. Yun nga sir, para sa iba gusto nila nakikita yung hazard to be really really visible, but we cannot determine if Hazard means parked or moving thus the danger of being seen vs not yun nga nakakalungkot kasi kanya kanya tayo ng interpretation here in the philippines.
Sir Ive read those and even the Color coding scheme at lahat. Regarding Swerving MMDA does not consider it as violation, but the SIGN no SWERVING can be seen around manila kakasakit ng ulo kung saan ka maniniwalang post sa net ba or sa street. Although never caught because of swerving, arguing with one traffic enforcer, baka kainisan ka lang at maglagay ng alarm sa license mo without you knowing it, may kakilala na kasi ako na ganyan nahuli nagpakita sha license and he wasnt making a violation and he proved it, tapos pinaalis sha then nung nagrerenew na sha nakita nya alarm, and thats the only encounter he had with a traffic enforcer.
Oh BTW sir I know you have experience a full rain while driving, diba sinusundan lang natin ang light sa harapan natin na kotse, kasi di na natin makita road line at all. Same reason why its less dangerous than not being seen than being seen on a zero visibility area. It is really applicable sir. Pero true to each beliefs.
