another gas variant user here... 2006 model.. still running pretty perfect.. hassle-free maintenance.. i almost sold it in favour of a newly released diesel variant, but after doing some computations, pareho lang amount ng gagastusin ko in 10yrs of ownership.. mostly highway around my area, kaya pabor sakin ang fuel consumption.. doing 10km/L pag chill-chill lang, 8km/L naman pag hataw... pag nasa metro manila naman ako, 6.5 to 7 km/L..

Gas vs. DSL - BTW, M/T is only available in diesel. Gas is available only in A/T. DSL has more torque (accelerates faster from stand still). Gas has better top speed at highways. DSL M/T is thrifty with fuel.

4x4 vs. RWD. - If go to places with paved roads with on level plain, then there is no point for 4x4.
i'm used to M/T sir, but minsan nakakapagod kasi yung M/T i-drive. when i'm using my sisters A/T ang ginhawa.
hmmm, you got me on the 5-speed and 4-speed issue..

    thanks sir!

You also might consider waiting until aug or sept. since Toyota is expected to launch yet another upspec units with new 5 A/T (available to all A/T variants). 5 spd M/T remains as is.

Price increase for every up-spec is SOP. ie. Innova 2013 with "upgraded" dual front airbags and ABS for the J variant, resulted to a 15K increase in price.

you mean the gas variant 2.7 vvti will also have 5 AT? toyota thai does not have 5AT for gas variant AFAIK. thinking of getting the gas version within the month. do you guys think there is a very noticeable advantage over the 4 AT in terms of acceleration? how about interior design upgrades or the rear disc brakes?

that's a relief, thanks retz. saw this article also but it was the 3.0 diesel. even with the upgraded engine there was not much difference in acceleration. not sure though if same lang sa vvti. i just want fast acceleration if ever i need it during overtaking even on an uphill.

Fast acceleration? Get a Sorento or Sta Fe CRDi

Or for the Fortuner, you can get a Racechip upgrade for it.
