Passed by a Petron station along J. Abad Santos this morning and they had a streamer that says "Xtra Unleaded is available again" (or something to that effect). I didn't check if its really available.

May 27th, 2009 02:25 AM #433Is this allowed? A few weeks back Petron Shaw blvd branch stopped selling unleaded fuel. It replaced unleaded with e10. Alot of people complained na matakaw daw yung e10. i personally saw my mileage drop.
this week however, nawala bigla yung e10 tapos bumalik yng unleaded. TURNS OUT Petron changed the name of "E10" to "Unleaded". According to the gas boy "Unldeaded parin yan...may halo lang ng e10". I asked why they changed the name he said "Hinde mabenta yung E10 marami may ayaw...pinapalit yung pangalan sa unleaded para mas malakas yung benta".
IS THIS ALLOWED? Panu kung hindi pwede sa kotse mo yung E10? sorry ka nalng? IS this an isolated case or are other Petrons out there doing the same thing?
If you look closely at the reciept, it is the only place you will see that the unleaded fuel you bought is actually "Unleaded E10". Other than that lahat ng signs sa gas station ( fuel pumps to the billboard ) puro unleaded lang nakalagay. Parang false advertisment ata to? Pwede ba i sumbong sa DTI? Kawawa naman mga masiraan ng makina bec of this.

mga paps, i checked this out sa area namen, Mecedes Ave, Pasig na Petron,
It is true, that Xtra Unleaded ang branding, but if you look closely at the pump, meron yellow sticker stating na 10% Ethanol na cia. I asked the Attendants dun. sabi nila, panget daw reception ng mga tao sa E10, kaya they(Petron Mgmt) took out the Green colored pumps and placed the old red ones for Xtra Unleaded. so in short, E10 pa ren cia, na branded as Xtra with 10% Ethanol... i tried it with an empty tank, E10 cia. mahina hatak...
XCS na lang ulet ako, kahit mahal...

Well, technically, Petron did nothing wrong. All gasoline variants here, kesyo Premium, Blaze, Techron Gold, Ethanol-blend (E-10), V-Power ay UNLEADED.
Bawal na kasi magbenta ng leaded gasoline, per the Clean Air Act.
It's just a marketing move on their part. Hanap na lang ng ibang gas stations.

May 27th, 2009 09:57 AM #438Clarify lang po. Petron Shaw Blvd falsely RENAMES "E10" to "UNLEADED" to boost E10 sales.
I have no problem with them selling UNLEADED fuel. In fact yan nga yung hinahanap ko e. My problem is with them making you believe that your buying pure "unleaded" when in fact your buying "E10" pala by changing the label. Takaw kasi ng E10 e kaya ayaw ko.
Analogy: WHAT IF "regular" Coke lang iniinom mo then one day rere label ng Coca-Cola lahat ng Coke ( Coke Zero, Diet Coke ) nila into regular Coke kasi mahina benta ng Coke Zero. Panu kung ayaw mo lasa ng Coke Zero? No way of knowing kasi pareho na lahat label nila. Unfair naman yun to the consumers.Last edited by fibzzz; May 27th, 2009 at 10:06 AM. actually malapit na daw i phase out ang "unleaded". dahil kelangan na ng 10% ethanol blend ang lahat ng gasoline.
what you can do if you really want the "pure unleaded" is asks if the one labeled unleaded is pure.
