March 27th, 2022 06:11 PM #213Maamoy ang engine oil. Hindi ba mas malapot ang engine oil especially pag hindi pa mainit?

March 27th, 2022 06:15 PM #214One thing I liked with old fans is they're designed to be oiled. Usually may butas na where you just let the oil drip in.
Hindi ngapala aerodynamic ang blades. Mahina ang hangin for the speed of rotation.

March 28th, 2022 02:04 PM #215Re amoy, wala naman. 2 drops is barely anything. Also, it doesn't really get hot, very light load lang naman on the bearings even with the metal blades. The way i test is to spin it by hand and see how long it 'free-wheels' until it stops. The thicker oil helps i think since it 'seeps' less. Anecdotal, of course, and not based on scientific stuff...

We used to have a definitely 60's metal bladed 2-speed GE electric fan when we were kids.
It was only used sparingly kapag summer na summer na lang talaga.
Mahal kasi ang kuryente sa probinsiya at itong electric fan ang isa sa mga malakas kumunsumo ng kuryente.
It was bought in Guam pa when my father had the chance to be an early OFW there.
So it was powered through 120V kaya it needs a step down transformer.
I also bought a Toshiba inverter fan with remote for around 4.5k. At that time mura na yung presyo na iyan.
Ngayon I can see branded inverter fans at around 3.5k only. What I like about it is that it can really go slow.
Slow like a breeze lang as I don't go for those typhoon class wind power. Usually fan noise also comes with them.
Last purchase ko is a Chinese branded stand fan. Feels cheap but it's been 6 months and no problem so far.

Earlier I inspected a transformer room and saw a small industrial fan blowing directly towards the dry type xmer' and the personnel told me it has been running for more than 10yrs continuously 24hrs a day.... talking about durability.

2 drops lang ba? San ba pina patak? Dun ba sa may small hole sa harap ng motor?
I used delo gold and applied it all over the motor. I think masyado madami nalagay ko. Few weeks later it stopped again and nag amoy sunog. Maybe I didn't cleaned it properly and the dirt moved into places it can burn.

I don't know if it's related but it seems if something is electric it would last longer kung hindi sya stop and go. Parang yung bulb light sa isang fire stratton sa US. More than a hundred years old na. It was only turned off 1 time. 24/7 naka ilaw for all these years.
It seems the cycle of turning it on and off ang nakaka degrade sa electronics.
