sorry guys..
ganun talaga mga bagong laptop ngayon na lumalabas..
by default its going to be vista. you will not be allowed to downgrade it to XP. it you are successful in downgrading, next issue will be drivers.
kahit sa compaq ganun din. kabibili ko lang ng compaq presario - tinanung ko muna if pwede install XP kasi DOS OS lang bibilin ko. para magamit ko mga cds ko dito. unfortunately hindi raw eh.
so no choice ako kundi gamitin ang vista kahit ayoko. upgrade nalang ng memory.. and bili ng softwares compatible to vista sa makati cinema square..

oh remembered. i have 3 working xp cds. 1 sp2 which is the one i want to install here in my lappie and 2 sp3s. the other sp3 i tried to install before, it worked! kaso im having internet connection problems. i cant access the internet. i think nasira ang download file kasi download ko lang sa *******s yun. bakit yun gumana? nanibago nga ako kasi 5 secs lang boot time ko
uninstall ko na kasi nga di ako maka access sa internet. bakit yun gumana eh itong sp2 ayaw? tinry ko din ang isang sp3 na download ko din sa *******. during download i didnt open the download file as suggested by an tpcer para daw di masira ang file. pero ganun padin sa sp2, ayaw padin may lacking file daw. i havent try it on another pc though.

tama si karl. i had that experience too two weeks ago lang. i am using a gateway lappie from the states with built in vista.
nung dinowngrade ko, namroblema ako sa drivers. most of them are incompatible even via the manufacturers website.
so what i did is to reinstall vista and just did a dual boot so that the other boot is on ubuntu. works better.
i just use vista now if i do not have any other choice.

Pareho pala tayo Karl, I recently assisted some nuns and priests into buying compaq intel cq40 computers.
I tried for 10days to slipstream AHCI drivers into xp, unsuccessful. lol
kaya Vista na lang.
Hindi naka-"lock" ang new computers sa Vista. The exact issue is, xp has no SATA AHCI drivers (usually IDE lang). Kaya during setup boot, di nakikita yung southbridge (where the storage is connected) so it fails.
If one has more patience, pwede naman i-slipstream yung AHCI drivers sa xp. Tedious lang.
