i tried to install windows xp through the built in dvd drive but i cant. yung cd na ginamit ko eh gumana naman sa ibang pc ko. kaya i thought it is just a matter of dvd drive. ewan ko bakit pero parang ganyan ang assesement ko. so bumili na ako ng ide to usb converter sa technomart para magamit ko ang ide drive ko sa laptop so parang external na. ngayon nagtataka ako kung aling first boot priority ang iseset ko sa bios ko. pag sinet ko sa cd drive ayaw. black screen lang palagi hanggang pinatay ko na. sinet ko naman sa usb device ayaw parin, may black screen parin. ano ba dapat gawin ko? aling setting ang gagawin ko sa bios ko? at pano ko malalaman kung ang bios ko eh may ability na mag boot sa external dvd drive? nga pala naka laptop ako kaya di pde basta basta palitan ng dvd drive. dell inspiron 1420

Ang hirap kasi is iba iba ang BIOS ng mga computers so each manufacturer has its own. Normally dapat madetect ng BIOS yung external drive tapos you have to choose to boot up using the exteernal drive. If hindi ma-detect ng BIOS then I am not really sure what is the problem unless we can see it.

sa dell try mo ito..
try mo yung recovery niya baka di pa damage..
CTRL+F11 as soon as you turn on the system.
you should be able to see a PC RESTORE by SYMANTEC.. pag hindi..
try mo mga 3-5times..
pag wala pa rin effect malamang sa wala ng image yung hdd. so your off to manual OS reinstallation..
turn off computer.
turn it on and keep on tapping F12..
lalabas boot device menu..
hanapin mo kung onboard or USB dvd drive / cd rom drive.
tapos yun na..
HTH..
pag may tanung ka lang PM ka lang

ooopppsss VISTA pala..
teka sir..
downgrade to XP?
you sure?
i think your dell laptop will not work on it.. hehe baka mag ka issue ka lang.
i doubt it will. all laptops na lumabas na vista. hindi pwede idowngrade. pero try mo pa rin sir. naka lock kasi sa board yung Vista OS niya. di tatanggapin yung XP.
eto lang option mo sa ngayon pag gusto mo downgrade to xp.
turn off computer.
turn it on and keep on tapping F12..
lalabas boot device menu..
hanapin mo kung onboard or USB dvd drive / cd rom drive.
press ENTER..
tapos yun na.. dapat mag boot na sa CD.

* JJC, to boot from your ext drive, you have to set your bios boot priority in such order that your external drive should be on top of the boot drive priority list. Restart your lappy and press F8 or F12 not sure though which key but it should be one or the other. Once you accessed your bios, switch to the page that says boot or boot priorities. Set your Ext usb dvd drive to no.1 , exit and save, that's it. Hope this helps.
OT: Heard that you're looking for this one here is the link where you can dl the vista look xp: http://www.warezrocker.net/softwares...e-edition.html
