Like other Japanese brands before like Sanyo, Sharp, Sansui, Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer. Akai etc... na iwanan ng panahon when they stuck to old tech and are expensive. And when cheap brands from SKorea and followed by China started surpassing the Japanese offerings in tech, final nail in the coffin for Japanese electronic industry.

Yup, back then Sony = quality and reliability. I was surprised nga some time in 2010s my ex told me that their Sony TV was problematic and it's not reliable/quality anymore considering the high price. That's the reason why I never bought Sony TV na and got Samsung instead then Sharp.
I then tried Hisense (China) as recommended here. It lasted a long time na rin. Now I got the Coocaa, we'll see if it's just as good as Hisense.

Sony still makes a lot of consumer appliances (TVs, BD players, audio equipment, laptops, cameras and of course game consoles). But a lot of manufacturers in other countries have also caught up, for cheaper. Plus most consumers are happy with "good enough" and "for the price".
