I noticed that 90% there are MALE pala. It's literally a sea of people nga, parang nagwa wave! I used to think the devotees are fanatics or cult like UNTIL I experienced a miracle myself na I started to be a devotee. I go to Quiapo once a month.

The Parish priest in Quiapo used to be assigned in Makati where my Uncle was lay minister for decades. They said they let "kakilalas" touch the Black Nazarene. I would have asked my Uncle to introduce me to the new parish priest but my Uncle is practically bed ridden na since he caught covid in 2021 so he can't introduce me to Fr

Now I don't know how I will ever touch the Black Nazarene

For this year, the Black Nazarene was enclosed in a tempered glass case like the Popemobile to prevent devotees from climbing up to touch and kiss the Nazarene, but of course may hindi talaga magpapapigil. Surprisingly the translacion wrapped up early with the Black Nazarene arriving at the Church grounds about an hour ago, in contrast to 4 or 5 years ago na umabot pa nga ng 3 or 4 am.

people believe touching the nazarene during the procession is the only way their request will be granted

watching the videos you can see the psychology of thousands of extremely determined people

kahit nasa loob ng glass enclosure

touching the glass is the new touching the nazarene

ano magagawa ng "no touching" rule

walang laban yan sa paniniwala ng tao

The priests should teach their parishioners that religious statues are not amulets.
It's just a representation of who you are praying to.

Even if they did, walang maniniwala & susunod. Plus we filipinos are a superstitious lot. Aside from touching statues/images, we put rosaries sa rearview mirror, palaspas sa widows ng house, etc believing these things would grant blessings.

but isn't He available for touching, the rest of the year,
inisip ko din... like what's the difference if you touch it sa ibang araw

maybe the psychology is iba ung mahawakan mo during the procession

coz the difficulty level is so high that if you succeed mas malaki chance ma-grant ang wish mo
