In Tears of the Sun, they had this line from Edmund Burke : "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for the good men to do nothing."
How fitting that is here. But, at the end, unlike the Tears of the Sun which F16 came, here, artillery fires never came.

Saw a 6 minute video of the actual killing of unarmed and wounded SAF members. Isn't a violation of the Geneva convention and considered a war crime?

i can understand your outburst. but i don't think it was a massacre. from analysis of events, the forces that engaged 55th were reinforcements of those who were with the terrorist Marwan and who were in a thick of battle with the 84th. 55th was the blocking force. of course, as the containment force, 55th would block any help for the enemy. but the enemies' reinforcements were just too many. 55th was company - size, the reinforcements could be battalion-size or more. even if they were outnumbered, i don't believe that they were wiped out at 9 contrary to some reports. SAF is the best of the best. lack of ammunitions could have been the last straw. when they were actually overran after 11 or 12 hours of fighting, what happened next was an overkill. but can you imagine, with the number of the enemies, they HELD their position up to their last ammunition, up to their breath. that is gallantry over and above the call of duty, Sir. and that makes them our heroes.

Sir, I totally agree that they deserve the highest honors. They are indeed heroes and gallantly fought their enemies to their last breath. Words cannot describe their heroism. As you said, they are the best of the best, they went in even though they lacked some assets that their western counterparts would have. I am one of many who salute them in their bravery and heroism.

On another note, the SAF members as seen in the video were already defenseless. They were badly injured or dying. They were in a physical state that they are unable to fight back. This fact qualifies it to murder. Also aggravated by the fact that their equipment, personal belongings, and even stripping them partially, if not totally naked. And considering that this was done not only to one SAF member but many, I would call it massacre and not just overkill.

We may call it massacre, overkill or whatever technical term but one thing is for sure, the acts of those who killed the troopers were very inhumane. It may not be a war crime but I think it is a crime against humanity.

one time in my life i was asked in an interview almost the same kind of question. but it referred to the new people's army. but my answer then is relevant to your question now. war is an armed conflict between two contending states or state actors? milf is not a state. they are insurgents. according to Malcolm, a state is a community of persons more or less numerous,
permanently occupying a definite portion of territory, independent of external control and possessing an organized government to which the great body of inhabitants
render habitual obedience. (from this definition, we can infer that milf is not a state)
if there is no war, no war crime.
i saw that too. it was murder. (i observed that the video was taken between 11 am to 1 pm, considering the light and shadows there. so it bolster general napeñas statement that at around that time a number of his men were still alive)

and this brings us to this another point, allegedly it was biff that was coddling Marwan and it was the biff that had a firefight with the 84th. and because biff fughters are kins or relatives of the 105th biaf fighters the latter ran in succor to the former. it was alleged that it was the 55th who engaged first. why? did they expect the 55th to use night sticks against numerous armed reinforcements?
