People have high sense of entitlement. Report has it that Oplan Wolverine was hatched by General Purisima and General Napeñas in 2010. So, use your imagination.

Silent treatment from SAF was due to lateness of the hour, says Palace | News | GMA News Online

Silent treatment from SAF was due to lateness of the hour, says Palace

The silence that met President Benigno Aquino when he addressed the members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP SAF) on January 30 was due to the lateness of the hour, Malacañang said.
“Ito po ay naganap noong 12:45 a.m…. Pansinin din po natin, buong araw nandoon na rin po 'yung mga kagawad ng PNP-SAF at nakikiramay din doon sa pamilya ng kanilang mga kapatid sa paglilingkod sa bayan,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma, who was present during the meeting, told reporters on Wednesday.

He also enjoined the public not to interpret the silence as a negative reaction to the President’s statements on the Mamasapano encounter, which left 44 PNP-SAF members dead.

“Hindi po siguro dapat na bigyan ng iba pang kahulugan dahil sa nakikita ko naman po ay pinakinggan siya nang mabuti ng mga kagawad ng PNP-SAF at wala naman pong ipinahayag na negatibong reaksyon sa Pangulo noong pagkakataong ‘yon,” Coloma said.

On January 25, 44 PNP-SAF members were killed and 12 were wounded in a firefight with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and its breakaway group, the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

The SAF supposedly entered an MILF-controlled area in Mamasapano town to arrest Filipino bomb maker Abdulbasit Usman and Jemaah Islamiyah leader Zulkifli bin Hir—also known as “Commander Marwan.”

Government and security officials earlier said Marwan was most likely killed in the Mamasapano operation. According to a report on GMA News on Wednesday, a reliable source says that a DNA test conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed Marwan's death.

Last week, Aquino, the military and police’s commander-in-chief, admitted to knowing about the Mamasapano operation, although he did not categorically say who gave the go signal to the SAF members.

Palace: Meeting with SAF went well

President Aquino's meeting with the police commandos took place in the early hours of January 30 after he visited the families of the slain SAF members. He enjoined SAF troops to air their grievances, but no one said anything even after his repeated urging.

Coloma said that Aquino’s meeting with SAF members early Saturday actually went well, with the troops listening intently to what the President had to say.

“Maayos po 'yung naging talakayan ng Pangulo sa mga miyembro ng PNP-SAF. Pinasalamatan po niya sila sa kanilang paglilingkod sa bayan; pinuri 'yung kabayanihan ng mga nagbuwis ng buhay at 'yung mga sugatan na lumahok doon sa mahalagang misyon na kanilang ginampanan,” the communications secretary said.

He added that the President continues to reach out to the PNP-SAF after this meeting.

“Patuloy 'yung proseso ng dayalogo na ‘yan. Iyong mga nakakalap na saloobin at impormasyon ay ipinararating sa Pangulo at siya rin naman ay nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga pinuno at kagawad ng ating kasundaluhan at kapulisan,” Coloma said.

Last Sunday, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, who has direct supervision over the PNP, also conducted a dialogue with SAF members. The police commandos spoke freely during the event, with one SAF member was saying that the Philippines “is not worth dying for” if the government could not even protect its troops. — BM, GMA News

MANILA, Philippines―An ally-turned-critic of President Benigno Aquino III took a swipe at his sister, actress-television host Kris Aquino, who has engaged critics of the Chief Executive in verbal tussles online.

In a gathering Tuesday outside Camp Crame to honor the 44 police commandos killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, activist and performer “Juana Change” lampooned Kris by wearing a shirt with the statement: “How beautiful it is to be enraged when someone expects you to be silent.”

The shirt of Juana Change, whose real name is Mae Paner, is a parody of the one worn by the tv host during Monday night’s airing of “Aquino and Abunda Tonight,” a 15-minute talk show on ABS CBN which she hosts with Boy Abunda.

Aquino, the youngest sister of the President, wore a shirt with a message saying: “How beautiful it is to be silent when someone expects you to be enraged.”

Kris Aquino wore the shirt after spending the weekend fending off attacks from bashers and defending her brother for being absent during the arrival honors for the slain members of the police Special Action Force last January 29.

The presidential sister said she would not get tired of defending her brother and her family.

The President’s absence drew outrage and criticisms from Filipinos here and abroad, including celebrities whom Kris reportedly “unfollowed” on her Instagram account.

Some celebrities who criticized Aquino on social media included Judy Ann Santos and Jomari Yllana. AJH

Aquino accepts Purisima resignation – sources | Inquirer News

Sabi nga ng Ombudsman, liable for contempt pa ngayon si Puring sa pakikialam while under suspension. No where to be found si Pruing at out of the country naman.

Purisima resignation: Too little, too late. And it won't shield PNoy from criticism or even investigation over letting Purisima run the show despite his suspension.

    -

I will be glad when Kris retires from showbiz... so networks will not feel obliged to report on every single utterance she makes.

I mean, I don't like her all that much, which is why I try not to pay attention to what she does or says... but then the effing networks shove her in our faces and FB newsfeeds every single day.

My "unsubscribe" button is getting a hefty workout due to this.

i said it before and i say it again, let us move on, but not without bringing to the bar of justice those who are liable for SAF44's passing. it is great to know that the DOJ will be filing charges against the commanders of the milf and biff who are involved in the carnage. in the homefront, with the news that General Purisima has handed his resignation, to give further justice to our fallen heroes, we hope that those mentioned above shall be initiated so that we can have a closure to this very unfortunate chapter of our law enforcement.
