Senator Miriam Santiago bared some bad news this morning saying she has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

But the fiery senator says, the cancer is not spreading on her body and she's optimistic that she will be able to get back to work after 6 weeks of treatment.

"Allow me to introduce myself to you as the only senator who has been diagnosed with lung cancer as of last week. I have cancer of the left lung which makes it hard for me to breathe. I don't know what the reaction of my enemies will be, on what hand I might die, and that they could get rid of me, of I might survive and get rid of them," Santiago says.

She adds, "They discovered I have what they call behavioral mutants or mutancy by themselves, by my cells in my left lung, making them impermeable to cancer and enables them to fight cancer nearby. I'll be taking a tablet that has the benefits of chemo. I will see you in 6 weeks, fully cured of cancer," she said.

Q: Were you scared?
Santiago: No, I’m very excited. I said ‘Yes, I got cancer!’ Because now I’m entering another dimension of human life.

The senators’ DAP allocations were: Estrada, P100 million, special allocation release order (Saro) No. F-12-00221; Marcos, P100 million, F-12-00222; Revilla, P100 million, F-12-0220; and Sotto, P70 million, F-12-00224. All the Saros were dated March 15, 2012.

Enrile, the records showed, received P55 million with Saro numbers dated May 14 and May 18, 2012, in consecutive sequence: G-12-00379, G-12-00380, G-12-00381 and G-12-00382.
