    Er, "someone"?

What someone? Someone who will "take the cudgels" for the pitiful opposition sorely lacking in public support? Someone who--by some inexplicably fortuitous happenstance or divine appointment--will always get local media coverage on a daily basis,

in order to recite in a dull, singsong manner some general feel-happy slogans and "suggest" recycled and obviously haphazardly thought-out ideas,

in press conferences conducted with the haste of a thief lest somebody else beat them to these "talking points," and of course without the borderline disrespectful Q&A's the likes of cRappler's SP04 Rañada shamelessly used to interrogate the president and his alter egos before?

    That someone? :nonon

Leila de Lima? She was already part of the executive branch not more than six years ago. As Secretary of Justice no less. Incidentally, also while committing concubinage with her driver slash sweet lover. So do you want more of her, ah, "tough love" then?

Carpio, the talkative ex-justice who never met a microphone he did not like? His only concern from all indications is the West Philippine Sea, so if it's not about that, good luck.

    And Puno who? :nonono

"Nakukulangan pa rin ako kay Leni"

How about kulang lang talaga si Leni?

Twice she was given the chance to contribute from within the government cabinet by this admin. Twice she willfully undermined the government itself. The nation is inundated daily with her press releases, desperately trying to paint a better picture of her-yet the nation disapproves of her more and more in spite of all these heavy-duty image enhancement.

What, did all those obvious photo ops, meaningless press cons, daily gratuitous press releases escape your notice?

If it is so important for the veep "to make noise now if she has plans for a presidential push," then she would only be doing what she has so far been doing all her VP days. That's all she has been doing anyway, making noise. It has not worked.

    She is popular?

...so that is the reason why her endorsed senatorial ticket went perfect, 0-8 :twak: because she is popular and can become the next president, hmm

Whoever had the temerity to even compile something like this--treating the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to score points in the eyes of the Filipino people--he or she should be ashamed. :nonono

On the other hand, the more Leni figuratively poses for the cameras the less people like her. So, maybe go ahead? As they say, more rope...:grin

Politics is like religion, their logic is clouded by their affiliation. It's apparent on this thread.

Are you implying I'm paid to post on the internet? And that there's even a 13th month bonus?

I knew I've been missing out on something all this time...so where does one sign up for that?

You and your...ahh, "bro" never even pretended to reply to the points I raised, he just posted an overacting commentary on what he thought my emotions were and an image of a crying face while you inferred something forthcoming on my finances..

Do you like Leni and this is your way of standing up for her? Or are you just on the fence regarding her, and figured it'd be funny to post some things you thought would be hilarious?

... perhaps if they increased the budget of the office of the vice president... and give the vice president a function that is more than that of "spare tire".
its current budget is less than a tenth that of the office of the president...

being a taxpayer and a citizen,
"sayang naman ang vice president"... hindi nagagamit ng bansa...

You missed the fun bro. That thread was closed because of too much toxicity. Looks like you want to reinvigorate the discussion so this thread will do. Welcome back!

"They" in reference to the OVP budget would be the Lower House, which holds the "power of the purse."

And one must ask, what would be the purpose of giving the Vice President a budget comparable to the President's? Is the VP expected to run another parallel government, mimicking the official government?

We already have an entire government cabinet in the Executive Branch with their regularly allocated budgets, would there be a need to add further to these just so the Vice President can have an increased budget?

"They" in reference to giving the VP a function that is more than being a spare tire, would be the Chief Executive.

Which Duterte actually already did. Twice.

Positions that the Vice President squandered in the name of playing partisan politics. Or maybe she just squandered them to hide a more serious matter, the matter of incompetence.

Besides, the position of the Vice President was literally created so there is someone also elected by the people to replace the elected President. The Cory-framed 1987 Constitution has explicit sections on this in Article VII Executive Department. Being appointed by the Chief Executive to a cabinet position is simply optional.

If it is "sayang" for a VP to simply be a "spare tire," it would probably be more practical to just eliminate the position altogether rather than further burden the government with a totally unnecessary expense from a bloated budget just so a sitting Vice President could form a shadow government to duplicate or engage in one-upmanship the efforts of the existing Executive cabinet.

    of course!
only congress can give out budgets.
    what are budgets for?
that is a question whose answer is limited only by the imagination. i am confident, government can think of something for the VP to do.

    the person is there.
it is up to government to either sideline the VP to uselessness, or to mandate the VP certain active duties.
either way, the VP's salary remains for the taxpayer to pay for.

    some administrations ago,
the VP was appointed the nation's foreign affairs secretary.
i thought this gave the VP something important to do, and saved government some spending money.

    eliminate the VP position?
    that's a thought...
    who becomes the spare tire?

    shadow government?
    ikaw ang nagsabi niyan.
personally, i do not approve of shadow governments. i prefer everything up front.
