Music is protected expression, journalism is protected speech. Going by your argument, we should tax music played on a guitar, and journalism written on paper or a computer.
Church service is protected expression, the place of worship itself is a mere manifestation of that expression. The realty exemptions are there to unbburden the expression itself.
