kahit wala na yung TS, this is still a very informative thread. i'm also planning on getting a pickup, and it will be my first ever purchase . please bear with all my questions guys.
    Initially, i was torn between:
    Navarra, Dmax and Ranger/Trekker
but now, parang interested narin ako sa strada. admittedly, i'm not sure if they have the 4x2 option na A/T, so pag wala, it will make decision somewhat easier.

So, like I said, I'm planning on getting 4x2 A/T and would really appreciate your comments and suggestions in terms on which is a better choice:
will use 90% city driving 10% provincial road, but not too much off road, if ever typical province roads na unpaved lang.
hauling maybe once a week at max 50kg

    F/C
which is cheaper to maintain (parts)
    reliability
    safety (passengers)
    comfort/ride
    better back seat comfort
    resale value

also, is it true that dealers give out better promos at the end of the year?
and is Dmax coming out with a new model within the year?

    Thanks, really appreciate any inputs

For your requirements I still think Navara is the better choice. 10% lang naman ang provincial and di naman sya hard core na off roading, unpaved roads lang and lubak lubak... Di kasi comfy ang Ranger and its 2nd row sucks!

all of the pick-up trucks in pinas are pricey but much better build quality, say the high end hilux, priced equivalent to 2 Tacoma lower trim models.

with Strada & Navara, based on my experience driving the nav at the sahara desert for my dirty job, it performed well but the screeching sound is a cancer once full-steer, but the Nissan-Renault diesel has a history of common probs like the con-rod & blown-up engines. Just recently the dci engines has had negative owners comments.
