January 8th, 2003 08:56 AM #11sori i couldn't post kagabi at pangit conection ko dito sa AC. AC btw is Angeles City Pampanga.
The shop I am refering to, is located almost at the left corner of the main entrance road leading to Clark airbase. Its in the back of this shop called "Rock Bottom Office Supplies" along McArthur hiway. If you know how to go to Clark you can't miss it. I'll try to get their contact numbers and hopefully get a picture of their copycat ARB's within the week too. Baka early next week ma update ko kayo. Out of town lang ako for the next 5 days kasi (pasensya na peeps kailang magtrabaho).
As a backgrounder, this shop is like that of Obet na mechanic and friend in Olivedrab (some of you probably have met him na). They also work on 4x4's ... members din yata sila ng AC 4wheelers club. One of their mechanic whom I know is a 4x4 enthusiast too (also became a Marlboro team some 4 years back). As such I supposed that their ARB copycat is not just a "show-off" thing. To be sure, I'll ask them your questions on it.
The one I saw was mounted with a WARN winch....so I supposed if it could withstand a tow....why not as a jackpoint?!?
ARB have several models of their bumpers...try checking their site. And check if the model locally available really is available in their catalog. Further, maliban sa orig na ARB sticker, it probably have a stamp ARB logo in the metal (Calmini does have these on their products). Plus, always buy from reputable suppliers (perhaps stores like RATS, RIDE and others).
I think the airbag sensors would be disabled....unless the orig ARB have provisions for the sensors??? Definitely kung hindi orig na ARB, I greatly doubt kung kaya nilang paganahin pa rin yun sensors na iyun.
my 2 cents.

the 14k bumper is it brand new? if second hand maybe it is original ARB but for brand new Ungas is right it set you back 30k and up for the bumper and more for bumper with winch mount.
boybi, the original bumpers are designed to work in conjuction with your cars airbag. i dont know about the imitations.
but if i have a choice i will buy the original ones not the copycats becasue it is an investment on your car. the original bumper you dont need to make additional brackets or holes on your car. it is design specially for each car.

Wala naman talagang sensor built in the OEM bumper for the airbag. Most likely the sensor is sitting underneath the center console (on most Nissans).
But changing the bumper does alter the front end geometry of the vehicle including it's 'crush' characteristics which could 'fool' the airbag sensor.
That's why Aussie bars undergo crash testing.
