nice idea there.. pero i dont think doing it via the government will work.. it has to be done first by someone.. then pag na notice nang government thru media baka mag work pa..
so find someone that can invest in say 10 multicabs running on LPG.. then gamitin sa isang jeepney route..

Frankly I don't expect a single centavo of government support. (And that is where the e-jeepney fails, it requires government money to even maintain itself.)
If the concept is financially viable (which it seems to be without any serious pencil pushing), any private individual or company (or co-op) can do this. The rest is simply keeping profits above expenses.
As you said, all it would need is a few samples rolling on the road and some media to get the word to others to copy and replicate.

What I mean is whether the government will be open to granting franchises to multicab operators on Jeepney routes. Remember how fiercely they fought and how severely they regulated FX Taxi services? If they hadn't done that... we would have even competition between FXs and Jeeps.
Huge problem. There is still only one loading point for CNG in the whole country, despite their being dozens of buses that were bought for the program. CNG is also much more difficult to store and dispense than LPG, due to the ultra-high tank pressures.Last edited by niky; October 10th, 2010 at 02:29 PM.

RE CNG
chicken or the egg
without demand, energy companies will not invest in retail infrastructure
(demand has to be high enough to justify investment)
nobody's gonna invest billions to supply natgas to a few CNG vehicles
nobody's gonna invest in CNG vehicles if there's no retail infrastructure
so who goes first?

CNG will not work because the refueling infrastructure is not available.
Even the government back CNG-Bus pilot project is in danger of dying because of lack of interest from the parties currently involved to expand the program.
But LPG is different. Auto-LPG expanded acceptance through private companies and individuals. Nearly no government support or backing. It is self-sustaining financially.
Another thing about CNG, CNG requires a much stronger tank which means it's also much heavier. So in that, only larger vehicles like buses and large trucks can ever go practical CNG.Last edited by ghosthunter; October 10th, 2010 at 02:29 PM.

If LPG powered vehicle does not have the support from the government, then it will go nowhere so much so with CNG.
What I noticed here in our place of work regarding vehicle using CNG is that it also utilizes gasoline as back up.

the govt promised the investors magkakaroon ng CNG supply
ano nangyari dyan?
don't count on the govt
LPG-powered transport never needed govt support to gain wide acceptance
all it took was high fuel prices in 2008 for LPG conversions to take off
no need for govt support for LPG jeepneys
the infrastructure is already there
all that's needed are private sector investors
