mbt, from what i've read, over the years, french automobiles (peugeot, citron, renault) have been upping the ante in tersm of build quality, fit and finish, engineering, performance. french cars used to be laughed at, becasue of poor reliability, now writers are all praises at french cars suchas the peugeot 307 (which by the way is 2002 european car of the year), renault avantime and espace, citroen hdb, and peugeot 206 of course, especially the hot gti version! i hope peugeot could really offer attractive prices to lure people away from the japanese marques. a change would really be good!

also, i thhink they would be releasing cars suitable for asian temperatures.

    Paul,

I just checked out their website at www.peugeot.com. I think the 206cc's specs will more or less be the same since it also uses a 1.6 16-valve in-line 4 engine. You have to be a little patient though since a lot of the text used in describing the car's features is in French. Wala akong makitang English translation sa website. Have fun browsing!

they should have a teaser like features, or test drives in magazines to excite the buying public.

Buhayin ko lang yung thread na 'to uli. Because Peugeot has already released their post-excise tax prices (read: hindi na 'to bababa daw). Got this from motioncars.

    206 5 door hatch 1.4L
    Manual Tranny: P648,000
    Automatic Tranny: P698,000

    307 5 door hatch 1.6L
    Manual Tranny: P895,000
    Automatic Tranny: P995,000

    206cc 2 door coupe-cabrio 1.6L
    Automatic Tranny: P1,400,000

Looks like the best buy among the three would be the 306 M/T, good horsepower for a 1.6 and comes with a $#!^load of cool accessories. The 206 is too expensive considering that the rear windows are still "pawis" windows. The 206cc? Nice car but too expensive. For 200K more i'd rather get a 316.

    What do you guys think?

The 307 looks intriguing... the 1.6L engine's output is almost identical to the civic's engine... but is kinda pricey for the AT version (with the Porsche Tiptronic Tranny)
