The salary scheme of paying an employee based on the standard of living of his country of origin is also been adopted by your current company? List of countries you've been assigned to and which of these countries do you think is the best and the worst place you've been to.

February 27th, 2006 08:12 PM #4That's TRUE for some BIG Company..But for us depenende kung saan ka ma base.. generally pag sa Africa like mentinoned above may Hazard allowance kami.. during Gulf War meron ding War allowance..pag sa desert may desert allowance...But Basic salary is the same.. Pero pag family status ka mas malaki ang makukuha but ganon din malaki din gastos pag kasama family.. Cycle Shift .. depende sa location pag offshore 28/28 pag onshore interior base max na yong 60/30 kalimitan 42/28... pag medyo swerte nakaka kuha ng 14/14... bale 2weeks work 2weeks vacation (my current cycle). with salary and Free Air ticket country of origin... salary advance at extra money for 20kg bagage allowance..

Sa sweldo, former company ko ganyan kaya it's always an issue especially to those na "puti" ang kapalitan since the difference is talagang malaki. Infact meron isang indian guy who've questioned the personnel manager asking whether the company is paying an employee by his job or by his nationality. He was completely pissed kasi reliever nya na scotish is getting over 6K samantalang sya 2.3K lang doing the same job. Mabuti tong bagong company ko difference is 200-300 US lang sa mga kasama kong australian at french which is fair enough. Syempre pa low salary effect lang ako dahil baka mabanatan din ako ng living standard
though policy nila equal oppurtunity to all. Sa assignment naman, I've been din to europe, africa, middle east at some asian countries but never accepted sa pinas kasi malaking amount mawawala sa salary plus syempre bayad ka pa ng tax. Sa akin thailand offshore was the best dahil doon ako nagsawa ng beer papunta o pauwi sa location saka daming chicks. Algeria is the worst since 2 of our engineers, a french and an italian was beheaded dyan. Pinakawalan nila ang isa who's nigerian.

February 27th, 2006 10:59 PM #10I was about to divert my career from Oil Field into IT ng mag boom ang IT parang gusto ko talaga lumipat.. but I realized na hindi pala ganon ka dali... sa oil field ang binbayaran yung exposure mo sa trabaho. marami ako kilala hindi naman tapos pero malalaki din kita nila lalo na pag nasa Oil Rig..
Kung dadaan ka sa Agency sa Phil. for sure mahihirapan ka maka kuha ng good company meron man madalang talaga.. Mostly global company direct sila kung kumuha or bihira kumuha sa manila dahil daming dapat ayusin... One thing for sure sa Oil company mag sasawa ka sa mga training at courses... pati team building kung saan saan.. once we had a team building sa Mt. Everest pero in one of the camp site lang na mababa..
