I agree, humina talaga ang dollar. but i don't agree na hindi significant ang pinapadala ng mga ofw. how can you justify the amount of dollars they sent every year? (14 billion dollars if am correct at the present). How about the buying power of each family increased due to the money sent by their relatives abroad? If you remove the OFW in the equation, that would be a big loss to the Philippine economy. Consider that 1 out 10 household got a relative abroad. Imagine their contribution to the country's dollar reserve.
On the other hand, dahil mahina ang dollar, mas kokonti ang value na nakukuha ng OFW considering tumataas ang bilihin and they receive the same salary in dollars.

let's face it, what ever we are today and what we will be in the future will be our own doing...
ito po ay sa ganang akin lang...

Ok let say the peso will go back to 20=1. 500 dollars would be 10 thou only. for sure OFW's will go home, because it is not worth anymore to work abroad. Can our government give 80% of 8 million OFW's a job? I don't think so.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sir I totally agree with you. We will find ourselves altogether jobless if that happens. Why?
1. OFW will ask for higher salary to compensate for the rising prices. No foreign companies will hire Filipino because "we are expensive". The most affected would be seaman, offshore workers and engineers. God, the chinese will take over our jobs.
2. No point to go abroad. The sacrifice is not worth to what you will earn.
3. Lastly, if that happens, can we find work here in our country? I dont think so. It is because the government cannot provide the job specific to the skills of each OFW. Consider the thousands of oil rig workers, seamans and engineers working abroad.

December 14th, 2007 07:57 AM #40a bit concerned about other ofws? why dont you just let them think for themselves.. if their income is not enough due to this continuing dollar slide, maybe they should rethink their strategy in life...
i'm an ofw, i should know what is good for me so please stop patronizing with your " I am just a little bit concerned with other OFW'S who earn below 500 dollars a month, with all the sacrifices that they are undertaking and to give a decent living for their families."
and please stop all these "nakakaawa naman ang mga ofw kasi bagsak ang dolyar"...selfpity will get you nowhere...if you think you need to do something then do something about it...Last edited by b1rken5tock; December 14th, 2007 at 08:05 AM.
