August 21st, 2012 03:55 PM #482hi..am a new owner of Elgrand Homy QD32 engine. it was flooded up to the floor level just recently because of habagat. have it changed oil already including oil filter. have the interiors cleaned and dried also however, 3 days after, the check engine indicator on the dashboard lit up. engine started to falter and die down especially iif aircon is on and travelling at a very low speed. the rpm is inconsistent as it goes up and down on its own. when i turn on the aircon, instead of the rpm levelling up, it goes slightly lower and then eventuall, engine turns off by itself. have it checked by electrician and he recommended to change the MAF sensor as it does not work anymore. have it replaced already by second hand sensor but the problem still persists although quite lessened. after that, the computer box was diagnosed and scanned. the following results came out;
Detection Condition:
DTC is detected when...
-fuel injection feedback system does not operate properly (this system consists essentially of ECM electric governor control sleeve position sensor
Check Items (Possible Causes)
-main power supply circuit and fuse
-harness of connectors (electric governor and control sleeve position center circuit)
-electric governor
-electric fuel injection pump
-ECM
the mechanic suggested to replace the entire fuel injection pump to remedy the problem
My questions are:
-Do I really have to replace the entire fuel injection pump or i might resort to calibration only
-if i need to replace the fuel injection pump, what other parts do I need to replace also if there is any
-how much are fuel injection pumps for QD32 engine
my post is quite a stretch but i am hoping to receive assistance from you. Thank you very much for your help

flooding up to floor level is nothing, the ecm is higher than that, also your air intake is higher than that so syou should not have gotten any water in your engine. second hand maf sensors are a bad ideal, and if they are not the exaxt same part number or cross reference then it will not work properly.
your mechanic looks like he is going for pesos not solutions.
first check your fuel system for water, these tanks are 12 years old and can have small holes ot leaks that could have easily let water in with flooding.
I would bleed the system, change the fuel filter, add 200ml 2T oil to your fuel to lubricate the pump,
also check to see if your air intake hose connected to the turbo is not split, if it is this could be your problem iand if that was underwater you would have sucked down water.
I see no reason the inectioN pump needs to be replaced at this time.
hopefully your mechanic is talking about the in tank fuel pump and not your injection pump. if the intank pump goes bad it can cause your issues.

August 22nd, 2012 10:30 AM #484The old maf might still work, cleaning with contact cleaner or the 95% isopropyl alcohol might do the trick. Same thing happened when my maf got wet by the rain while i was fixing the turbo inlet crack. Once I cleaned it, the van was ok again.

August 22nd, 2012 12:42 PM #486Thanks for the quick reply. I will advise my mechanic to do the suggestions you gave. Anyway, he was referring to the fuel injection pump and not the intank pump. I will just post here the result after. By the way, would these actions already remove the check engine light indicator on the dashboard after or I have to submit it for another computer box analysis or scanning to reset and delete the problem. Thanks
