Agree din ako dito. Siguro pwede mo nga kausapin parents mo na if given the choice, Sentra mas prefer mo. But let them know also that kahit corolla pa bilhin nila, you'd lovingly accept it and be thankful to them.
Malay mo pag dinaan mo sa ganun klaseng usapan eh, biglang ma grant ang wish mo.
Lahat naman nadadaan sa mabuting usapan bro.
Hold your excitement and thirst for your dream car until you can finally afford it. Trust me, yun yung pinaka masarap na feeling kapag kaya mo na bumili ng oto. You make the rules na ika nga. hehehehe..

May 3rd, 2011 08:01 AM #44Bakit nga ba ayaw niya sa Corolla?
Sa bagay, nung bata pa ako ayaw ko din dun!
But as I met friends who drive them, I learned to appreciate the Corolla and it is indeed a nice car.
Intindihin na natin yung bata, medyo ganyan pa talaga mag-isip yan!
Been there, done that!

May 3rd, 2011 10:01 PM #46mr snowblind, let me tell you a story.
once, there was this young man who wanted to buy his first car. of course, he couldn't afford the casa types, so he went sunday's bulletin today classifieds. he listed a few.. beetle, escort, toyota, etc. and his dad dutifully drove him around to inspect the cars. a relative mentioned a friend who was selling his corolla fastback. there was even this celebrity's VW. but for some in-explicable reason, he was bent on this 4-door escort. (can you believe that?!)
to summarize, i got truly hands-on education on auto-mechanics, because i got an ex-taxi! undaunted and adventurous, i rebuilt it! it drained me of my hard-earned money, but hey! i learned to overhaul a carburetor at 8 pm infront of the Church! and i brought home my car when the rack and pinion fell apart, using only alambre! (again, another story.)..
i am sure my dad had his misgivings on my choice, but he figured (correctly) that it was a good way to teach me about life without making it appear he willed me to suffer.
my boy, your parents do know something about life and about cars that you only read about while they lived it. listen to them. they have only your welfare in mind. and when you get richer and more powerful as they get weak and feeble, GANTIHAN mo na sila! ibili mo sila ng camry with chauffer!
so when i saw your thread, it brought back fond memories. and my advice to you is something i should have done myself many years ago.
fortunately, my brothers and i were fanatics that we almost turned our house into a talyer.. maybe that's the reason i refuse to go auto shift. i miss push-starting..
so, why did i buy the sentra and not the corolla? because na-out of stock yung xe. so i got the ex. it's still with me, 14 years na. my brothers? one got a lancer, the other a honda. heh heh.
