July 5th, 2014 12:51 AM #3Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to ask 1.8 owners. Do your intelligent key Fobs have a real key hidden inside them that you can pull out? In case the intelligent key loses power?
Or were you given a separate key that is not hidden in the key fob?
I always wondered about that. Because if I recall correctly the ASX my uncle has (with the push start/stop system) doesn't have a real key hidden inside the fob.
Just curious

Yes, it's inside. There's a latch you will move and the key will slide out. That's also the first thing I asked, what if the transponder loses power, how on earth am I gonna start the car. Honestly, they didn't know the answer [since I am their (the agent and his team) first Sylphy client]. Both the Sony XAV-63 remote and the transponder use CR2025 (IIRC). I searched on youtube and found an instruction video on how to deal with it. I think the key itself is using a passive RFID as a secondary measure. Since if it loses power, you can start the car by sliding out the key to open the door, and push the start button with the key.

I am just curious with regards to the harshness issue you mentioned Horsepower. Is it possible that the fuel you topped up with was "Stale" or old. Given that our petrol fuels should be 10% bioethanol and that raises the RON rating/augments it to satisfy, could that have causes the harshness because the ethanol already evaported and you ended up having lower RON than advertised?

I have tried using the sport button but since it is a CVT, I don't know of the benefit for actually accelerating, but I would see benefits in using it as a way to engine break via accessing ala overdrive mode. The shift points doesn't appear to change much or are barely noticeable and I've seen reviews who have said that they don't see any perceivable difference with going with sport mode or regular drive.

July 5th, 2014 12:57 AM #9Ic ic. I can't remember though pero there are instructions on how to start your car in the manual though if and when you intelleigent key "dies" for battery reasons. I didn't care to read it though but I saw it was showing the key inside in the diagram. So just heads up I guess as a need to know in case of battery failure.
